Windows steaming up

I know this may seem like a stupid post, but ive never experienced anything like it.

Ive got two clios, a ph1 172 and now my daily drive is a 182. Ive owned a fair few cars since passing my test 9 years ago and have never experienced a windscreen that steams up so much!!

Its only started happening since the cold weather has started and im well aware of what it is that causes this, but im guessing there maybe another problem... ive checked the carpets for damp and nothing?

any suggestions or any1 had similar problems?

All 3 of mine did this, bloody irritating as hell. I just used to stick the ac on to dry it out.

Seriously tho either have a window open slightly or I just prefer to have the heater on demist ;-)

Have you made sure there is no damp in the pollen filter box under the windscreen?

If air vents are left open in damp weather then the damp air can find its way into your car so always turn the knob around to the position for air to circulate within the car so that the vents are closed.

Having clean glass is vital. The water molecules will find it a lot easier to attached if there is something to hold onto even if it is a microscopic speck of dirt so give the interior glass a really good clean and using an anti-misting solution on the side and maybe rear window won't hurt either.

Remember air conditioning removes water from the air so if the windows begin to steam up while you are driving then put the A/C on for a few minutes.

Waterleak in car, check you water drain points on the scutle panel and make sure all your carpets are dry.

Mine does the same, but i know i have a leak! Just got to get round to clearing out the scuttle panel then try drying the interior out

Make sure air re-circ is switched off aswell as that will cause steaming up. Also make sure the pollen filter isn't blocked, so change it if its not been done for a while

Quickest way to do this is from the arch liners

But there is also another one in the middle, you have to get the thick padding from the back of the engine bay, and pull it forward, there is a little tube and it gets blocked.

I did mine from the top with a drain snake

Try replacing the pollen filter first, cheapest/easiest option. Ive just done mine and it lloks like it had the origional one in there.

Quickest way to do this is from the arch liners

I think it maybe easier for me to gain access through the scuttle.... I can't get a jack under my car to be able to get wheels off etc haha

I did mine from the top with a drain snake

What size drain snake? All the ones on ebay look like they'd be too big for the size of the drainage tubes on the car.

Need to do something to the mrs' dynamique to stop it fogging up in these cold mornings.

I had an issue like this in my Corsa, it was the heater matrix leaking. Bought some Radweld and it sorted although I should probably recommend against using this in a decent car!

Unfortunately not, been mad busy with work and literally havent had any day light hours to get to the bottom of this... one thing is for sure, the problem is still there!

As soon as i get time to sort it i will update!

bingo. my dads laguna was 3 years old and 100k never replaced ad had issues with misty windows, took this out and was horrified, it resolved all issues

Cheers Andy, looks like this needs to be looked at... i shall try and find some time to do this at the weekend as a matter of priority!
