windows xp key

ive just got a dell laptop off a mate which had windows ME on, i got a copy of windows xp professional and tried installing but it wont accept my product key, is there a way round it?

Nope, you'll need the correct release of XP with corresponding serial.

actually get a dell windows xp reinstall cd and it will just install

or just phone the number up and they will give you a code, no really they will, it's a call centre in india, i have done it before on pcs, and my bro did it on mode of the pcs in his school, never a problem. just ring up and they give you a serial over the phone
