Windows XP Serial number

Anyone know if it's possible to get Windows XP to tell you what it's serial number is??

Got to do a re-install for a friend i think, and he doesn't have the serial number recorded anywhere! It's worn off the bottom of the laptop somehow.

Downloaded and sure works on my machine, just hope it does on his, as his is full of virus - hence the reinstall!
