Wing Mirror hanging off

Hi guys

My nephew pushed my wing mirror in (like it does) then when he pulled it back round again it just snapped off at the joint.

Now I've tried furiously to push this back in, but can't seem to get it back on. Just hanging by the wires (182 electric mirror).

I can fit it back in so that it stays on while driving but it rattles and could fall out going over a bump etc.

Is there a way you can fit this back in so it gets it's sliding motion back? Pictures will follow tonight

I managed to get mine back on, wasn't easy though.

Take the back cover off the mirror, and you can see a metal ring with a spring on it. Twist this round where there is a gap and the metal ring will almost pop out of the casing entirely. Once this is done place the mirror in position on the car and tape it in place.

Then you need to push the metal ring right down so the notches go inside the lower casing, then twist it back to its original positon. I managed it by finding a metal file that just fit in the ring, but was a tight enough fit to be able to turn it at the same time. The spring is extremely strong and it took two of us to push it down.
