Winter Clio car cover- decent one?

Anyone got any recommendations for a decent car cover for my Phase 1 , Clio 172

During winter it gets parked up off road, and only used maybe weekends, and has thrown at it all the British weather that can happen- and that's usually lots rain

Have had a couple cheap ones, basically large grey bin bag material, which not only snags when putting on/off, but doesnt secure under the car and becomes dislodged and half off etc etc

Am happy to pay a few quid for an all over cover to protect from the weather, and waterproof, but which is a decent one?

Ideally can be secured underneath to pin it down usually near the wheels, and a material that's not gonna rip like a plastic bag

Want to try and prevent as much rot as possible- any recommendations?

I’m looking around at these now and like you say can pick up a cheaper one but also some crazy prices aswell.

I’d be interested in any recommendations.

But never sure, whilst they say "fits" a Clio, whether they are just a general fit. Would like a tailored fit myself.

Ive also got a couple of "gust guards that attach to the front and rear of the cover to stop it blowing off and i have a steel cable that is locked into place in the middle of the cover to stop it getting stolen.
Cover was £300 but as you can see its not for a Clio, this is the thicker one that they do. It has a nice soft inner, is a great fit and is very well made.

I had a cover on my PH1 from a company called Cover Zone, think that was about £100 at the time.

Yes, seen quite a few between £65 and £100 and think Car cover was one of the suppliers

The cover zone one fitted fine, the one I have for the Impreza is taylor made. The one I had for the Clio was for a small hatchback, that's where the cost goes.

Ive had 2 small hatchback covers (Inc Halfords) and whilst they easily fit, they are very loose and the wind gets into them
Many a windy night and in the morning they are half off

Going to have to go tailormade if I can, altho they do a "half tailor made" whatever that is...

This is mine, made by 'Specialised Covers' in Shipley, multi-layer, very snug fitting, had it some years, they are still around, but the covers are expensive.

I think that's what I've got for the Vee (it came with it, so I've had it for about eleven years) I've not fitted it in a long time! (haven't had the need to) It's a really nice cover!

The price is quite high, but it's tailored to fit. I think most cheaper ones wouldn't fit as good ?

Mine is like his, but blue. They've changed them a bit now though (as I saw on their website earlier)

That'll be like the one I had for my PH1.

It's a similar material to what I have on the Impreza.

Yes, you need the stars and yes it did.

Great. Well that might be the one for £115.
Not really the paintwork i am protecting as its pants, its trying to stop water getting all around the bodywork, underside and gaps, all winter

If it’s not been thought about already get one with a soft cotton lining to help prevent scratches as it will move about in the wind.

So, just bought the Monsoon tailored to the Mk 2 Clio, with locking kit
£123 all in all, with postage and vat

Will post up piccies when I have

A bit extravagant for a £550 Clio, but then keeping the weather of it is a must IMO

Must now go and plan building a garage

Works fine. Saw me all through the winter, no problem. The undercar securing straps are really helpful, and the water drains off completely, in fact dropping off away from the sills at the base.

Deffo worth getting the better quality one, as its bone dry underneath, albeit a bit of humidity with the car itself, causing steamy windows sometimes

Fits my Phase 1 pretty well, and the elastic at each corner is really strong

Ive had one little 2 cms cut on the roof, but just patched it up with a bit of tape and it seems fine

Its like a reinforced paperish material, seems good quality. Trying my hardest to keep the water off the 20 year old car.

I've got a half decent unmodified Phase 2 172 that I've had for several years. Unfortunately due to buying a house and working long hours I left it parked up in a yard down in Devon as I didn't need a car in Bristol. When I finally got it up here I realised the MOT had run out so it's been parked on the front lawn for weeks! I was going to sell it with no MOT but I'm loathed to get rid of it for near enough scrap money as I'm pretty certain it's going to be something I regret doing.

The new plan is to trailer it back down to Devon and store it until the big jobs have been done on the house and I can afford to get the work on the car done.

I'll probably go with the stormforce. I don't have a garage either so the car will be under it most of the time and the weather can be a bit lively down in the SW!

I find a long bamboo cane helps- clip one side of strap in, then stick the other end of the strap to the end of the bamboo, and push under the car to the other side

It's a snug fit, but the seams and stitching looked like they were up to the job.
