Wiper settings

going through the owners manual I see there are 4 positions for the wipers, A - stop B- intermittent/automatic C- Low-speed wiping D- High speed wiping

it then says "the rain sensor is deactivated every time the ignition is switched off"

so, if I leave the stalk in the position "B - intermittent/automatic" then turn my ignition off then back on obviously my rain sensor will be deactivated, BUT will my bog standard intermittent wipers still work without me having to switch them off then back on again if I leave the stalk in that position and turn the car off and back on at a later point. i.e. although the rain sensor will now be deactivated, will the normal intermittent wipe setting on that position just keep wiping as it was before the ignition was turned off, without me having to do anything other than turn the ignition back on.

How do I switch between having auto wipers running off that function and the normal intermittent wipers, i.e. how do I select which function of the 2 I want that position to perform??

also, whats the part of the stalk further in the stalk than the rear wiper controller, which has a vertical dotted line next to it.

and whats the square shape cut into the windscreen glass slap bang in the middle of the screen down at the very bottom by the wipers??

that adjusts the sensitivity of the auto wipers, or the speed of the intermittent wipe with auto turned off.

The little square at the bottom of the screen is an area of the screen without the UV coating. This is used over on the continent for the auto-tolling machines which drivers can place on their windows. They won't see through the UV coating on the clios, so require the cut-out. Its useful for satnav/speed camera detectors over here in little UK.

how do I turn the auto setting on the wipers off?? obviously leaving them in the auto/intermittent position then turning the ignition off then on again will deactivate the rain sensor but as soon as I switch the wipers completely off then back onto the intermittent setting the rain sensor will be reactivated, so how do I turn the auto off completely.

Wish you could as there complete shite. What i'd do for a single wipe option.

Yeah you can turn them off, but there is no option for a "single wipe" if there is just abit of water on the screen.

but you still have the 3 settings and can use the intermittent wipe with the adjustable spinny wheel thingy on manual mode?

You have auto, continuous wipe, or fast continuous wipe., the spinning thing does nothing i'm aware of apart from make the auto wipers even more crazy.

thats s**t! lol

i have a intermittent wipe, which you can change the length of time between wipes from about 10 seconds down to 2 seconds.

Yeah my old corsa was like that, was much better, cos if you have the very fine rain all over the windscreen the auto does not pic it up.

thats the bonus on the pug. if you flick the stalk down (from off pos) it just does a single wipe. if you ask me auto wipers are a waste of time

well if you can, how do you turn the auto wipers off. also, if you turn the auto off, then the auto position on the stalk is also the intermittent wipe setting so why not just put it in to intermittent let it wipe once and return the stalk to its wipers completely off resting position.

You turn them to off position, but turning them on then off is annoying, rather than just flicking the stick.

my rear wiper does my head in, everytime i whack it in reverse it starts going even if it's not raining - i just have to keep remembering to switch the auto off on the stalk each time

nah I mean, how do I switch the auto wipers off, so that when I flick the stalk down a notice to the first position I get use of the bog standard intermittent wipe as you would do on a car not equipped with auto wipers.

i.e. position 1 down on the indicator stalk is referred to as "intermittent/automatic position" so how do I switch between using the auto setting on that position and normal manual intermittent setting on that position.

lets say for talking sake im driving on a particularly dusty road, but its not raining, and I want the wipers to wipe the screen every so often to clear the dust/stour off the screen. if the wipers are on auto setting then they wont be wiping the screen till it senses water hence I'd need to keep flicking the stalk up and down to get my wipers to wipe and clear the dust off the screen. hence I'd like to know how to switch the auto off and just have them on good old fashioned timed intermittent wipe??

I don't think you can mate, unless there's a separate fuse which controls the auto wipers and you remove it? The wipers are either 'Auto' or 'Off' I'm afraid.

right that sounds reasonable.

BUT

why then does it say in the owners manual that that stalk position is the "intermittent/automatic setting" thus giving the impression that you can switch between both automatic and intermittent setting on that stalk position, and I've heard folk on here saying things like "aye you can turn the auto off"

so if what your saying is right enough, that means if I ever am driving on a dirty road and my screen gets covered in dust, my ONLY option is to continuously switch the stalk between completely off and automatic to get it to wipe when i want to clear the dust off the screen?

I'll just go check, but that statement above is probably because Renault use the same owners manual for all the models and you simply add/delete information as relevant to your model.
