wireless help please!

does any1 know if you HAVE to have the CD that came with all my wireless stuff from Wanadoo, i cant find it and as i am now on a diferent PC i cant get on to wireless.

Ive got my WEP number, but dont know if you can connect the router to pc without the disk :S

Ye, you shouldnt need any of their software. Most routers have their own built in webserver. You should be able to find the manual for it with a quick google search of the model number.

tried it the other day. opened the security center page and turned off needing a wep key for a while and i could sign on on my laptop.

You should not need any softare installed. As long as the PC is wireless ready by some means, then you should be able to see the router. If its encrypted and you know the key, then you should be ale to access it, presuming there is no MAC adress filtering.

well i got it so the laptop is wireless enabled but it wont connect to the router. Used the WEP number but its still not working

Do you have the I.P. address of the router?

You could log into it and double check the WEP is correct.

Maybe you just need to turn the router of then on again for it to find it

Alternatively, find a man to help you.

P.S. If your router/wireless card support WPA, use that instead of WEP.

If you have the I.P. of the router you could log into it and turn security off.

RIGHT!! no more messing , in all serious now , i really want to get my wireless working as its a complete pain having to use dial up(esp as it will be costing me more!!)

Ive tried phoning Orange(old wanadoodle doo) to ask for a disk but they say they are currently receiving high volume of calls and i cant be bothered to hold at the min.

I know there must be a way of getting my laptop 2 join, im just a bit lost with all this computer jargon!
