Wireless help pleash

Err, 6 people including myself are connected to a wireless hub (Belkin wireless G mimo router) and the connection is rubbish, constantly cutting out etc yet on windows it says 54mbps, excellent signal strengh and status:connected.

I was online at 2am last night with noone else using the connection and it was still crap. Is this normal? Any tips to make it a little smoother?
 
have you got all your broadband filters plugged in (little white boxs) in everything plugged into a telephone socket as that will cause that exact problem
 
Cant see any of them mate, there isnt a phone connected its just the router connected to the cable, then the cable runs through a small hole in the wall and dissapears!
 
If your wireless connection is dropping try changing its channel other devices in the area may be infereing with it.
 
Changed the channel, seems abit better?

You know the little wireless icon in the corner..

This little guy, its keeps going grey, then blue, then green. mean anything? lol
