hi, i want to wire up some 6x9s and have all four door speakers workings aswell, would i need to buy and amp for this? i have an alpine 9855r headunit.Could i wire up the 6x9s with the rear door speaker wires behind the cd player running together or wont their be enough power for this? thanks

as biojo says youd need an amp or to ditch the rears. basically its all down to resistance, running 2 sets of speakers of one output would more than likely blow ur headunits amp

can I ask why you would want 6x9s ? You will get a much better sound by upgrading the fronts and head unit 6 sets of speakers in a car will sound very messy

Yeah i'd agree. Upgrade the fronts to some components and amp them if you can. Ditch the rears altogether.

some varying views in here... I have the following;
Sony headunit with 2 x pre outs feeding 2 (small) amps in the boot. Front uprated door speakers are fed direct from H/U along with the OE tweeters. My rear (uprated) doorcard speakers are fed from 1 of the amps in the boot. Then I have a set of Sony 6x9's on the rear shelf which are fed via the second amp. The head unit is set up correctly and I do not get a "messed up sound" at all. I think the 6 speaker set up can work, so long as it's done correctly. The idea of running 2 sets from one output is a no no tho as said above.

Get a sub yes, but 'the more speakers the better'? Only if your a worrying more about people hearing you than decent SQ

sub and 6x9s in the shelf? So i take it you want to break your 6x9s and like distorted sound?

subs movbe a lot of air which will act against the movement of the 6x9s They will distort then break. As i said before lots of speakers gives you no clear soundstage with huge problems when you try to do your RTA.

For the best sound use amped components in the front and sub in the back 5 speakers in total (Or seven if you go for 3 ways)

mind you do you want good sound or pap sound that will impress the mcdonalds hang out crew?

Dont Get 6x9's your best bet is to put the money 4 your 6x9's into good front speakers, also if your thinking of getting a subwoofer they will only distort if in the parcel shelf
