WIZARDS OF NOS ..... Clio V6

Hi..

I am just weighing things up at the moment as far as adding any engine mods to my V6.. mainly in question for me are the following:

1. Am I going to keep my V6 (02) long enough to bother changing it? (approx upgrading to the Mk2 V6 around August/Sept)

2. Will it be a nightmare to sell it after playing around with its engine? (Would you want to buy a played around with V6?) Please Advise?

3. In 2 minds as whether its worth losing the warranty thats remaining?

OK.... heres the crunch.. be good to hear the response from the experienced V6 guys again... Tim and Ben and Mike etc and other owners what they make of this... But I just made a call the The Wizards of Nos

http://www.noswizard.com/NOS WIZARDS LINK

I saw them mentioned on sky (5th Grear?) the other day, and thought Id see whats involved and the price of there fitted nos kit. The guy I spoke to there has already done quite a few Clio V6s and said that most of the owners had been more happy with just 75 bhp jets ...but can be easily increased if u want more. (thats around the 300bhp mark!)

The total cost fitted and using the Large size Nos bottle.. was 1200 quid!! (does this sound about right??) There are no other upgrades needed to the management etc.... or lots of changing the engine components from there current form. Anyone else looking to make instant impressive gains for just over a grand would be hard pressed to get this without extensive mods to the management and cams.. etc.

Can you advise... is this all as straight forward as this? No other upgrades required? Reliability has been shown to not be any problem either?

Be good to hear what you think? Thanks again!!

i personally wouldnt buy a car that had been played with in such away but im probably fussy. also, i wouldnt be buying such an expensive car in the first place cos i couldnt afford it. but if i could id probably want a standard one.
im sure it wouldnt be a problem when you come to sell it though. NOS would make it a hell of a lot quicker too!

THat will totally depend on spec.

I know trev and his prices are good. And that 1200 quid would be getting you alot of kit.

Not just the plain streetblaster wet kit.

im in manchester, got some guy who buys his kits from W.O.N. but fits them in his own garage, he specialises in bikes and has 50bhp jets on his Hyabusa, hes done many cars and will be doing mine when i can afford it, reckon you could have kit fitted for about half what you been quoted

If my group buy worked out instead of people always dropping out last moment, people would have the kit for roughly 400 quid.

If you are serious about changing the car soon then I would wait before changing/adding anything.

The nitrous could be installed and removed so as only a keen eye would know it was ever there though. The price sounds right and would include a Maximiser that controls the delivery and allows you to set several parameters. Nitrous will bring you the biggest power gains for your money and by swapping the jets (which cost next to nothing) you could have 100-150bhp more. As you were advised lesser amounts are more than sufficient. Mine was originally jetted for 100bhp but I have limited it down to 50bhp until the Motec goes in to manage the whole engine/nitrous setup better. The standard ECU starts making adjustments and the torque curve goes all over the place. Although I have only 50 at the moment I actually gain an extra 110lbs/ft of torque at its peak at 3600rpm so the acceleration is still awesome. This power level is well within the engines limits but you still have to follow certain rules about using it. You could still do serious damage if you use it at very low revs and if it is setup too lean, again you could do serious damage. I would advise you to have it setup by experienced installers and keep asking questions until you are happy that you know what to do.

Im in Kent by the way so if you want to meet and take a look at mine pm me

Ok mate IMO if you have the ££ to spend then do it, but do u really need it? i.e. track days and 1/4 miles times yes

but are u gonno use it as much as u think?

i.e. using it to take the piss outta ppl on the road, u dont really need too coz u have a V6. plus do u really need to be going that fast on the motor way that quickly?

sorry to be boring  Just my opinion!

Tho if i had the chash to spend, and there was nothing more importnat to spend it on, i would def! tho cant say much for my elastic band powered 1.4 ;)

I know I was waiting a long time for that, then everyone fooked off at the last minute.:(

Hi Tim and everyone thats helped advise ... cheers for sharing ur experience with ur nos set up! can u confirm that it is not necessary to change the standard ECU? or is that asking for trouble with the crazy torque figures happening? is it still drivable like that without causing damage. I would def. let them set it up...as they have a great deal of experience with the Clio V6 and been around a while.

One slight concern is the hole they will need to drill from the engine bay through the casing to mount the Nos bottle behind the seat ...or in the tiny gap in the boot. I think this may be able to be plugged quite easily if it was removed tho. without leaving too much of a mess.

I am very very interested in doing this due to the ease and simplicity of the kit... but I still have a hesitation in my mind that I wish would just disapear and let me have some fun! There are always going to be areas that will cause concern, and this is why I am finding reading others experiences very useful to make the right decision.. thanks.

Thanks for the advice from everyone above...some good points have been made!

cheers!

No problems with standard ECU, the vast majority of people running nitrous do so on everyday cars with small bolt on mods at most. The little holes are the only thing that leaves a permanent clue as to what was going on but they could easily be hidden and it is very hard to see much through the engine cover on the V6 anyway, isnt it? Just be sure not to let them drill through the carpet itself on the inside if youre selling soon. Maybe have to remove that and keep it for putting back afterwards. Make sure that quote includes the Maximiser, Im sure it must. Start with a small power increase to get comfortable and upgrade the jets as you feel inclined. Even 25hp is noticeable because youre getting proportionally much more torque, it is more significant from low gears up rather than activating at 100mph in 6th. Look forward to hearing what you decide.

Headwork?
It depends what you want and the gains for your money would be very limited. As the car is no slouch anyway £1200 could bring you as much as 150bhp if you so desire. You cant transfer your headwork to any future car either. Horses for courses.

N20 is fun at the beginning. BUt i never use mine anymore.

Cant be arsed going to get filled, cant be arsed having my timing retarded all the time, cant be arsed having to turn it on and off.

Its not a lazy mans power oomph. lol
