Wonky's Not so Wonky blue oval

Firstly the reason I got rid of the Clio is because I was getting bored of it and after a lot of thinking decided a ST would be the way forward. Also because it just felt as if something was about to go wrong with it, But maybe that was just because I was so used to it having something wrong with it. The gearbox was feeling a bit worse of wear but nothing major what so ever. I know a lot will say I will get bored of the fiesta but we will have to wait and see wont we.

Anyway saw the car last Saturday offered him the Clio and some monies and here we are. Its a 06 Facelift on 60,000. Does't feel like 60k or show it I think. There are some scratches and ding's but nothing that glares out. It is missing a bolt cover for the alloys and the stereo was playing up when I was bringing her home but hasn't done it since. From what I gather the car was bought by an elderly couple who took care of it regardless. It had ford services up until the last one, then a younger guy bought it painted the wheels and added the stripes and the spoiler. But didn't keep it for long.

Bought a K&N air filter the other day £70 :) Will fit it after Christmas I think. Also on the list of bits to do are :

Remove the stripes (when it gets a bit warmer)
Paint all the plastics Gloss Black
De-tango the headlights
Lower it on Eibach springs
3'' Outward rolled Exhaust
A set of Escort Cosworth alloys
Rear axle spacers

  Red
Car looks great and plans sound perfect mate.

Only thing that annoys me about these is the blue top dash. Can you change them for the black ones? Seriously the only thing I don't like.

says the guy with the lowered renault clio
Because lowering a car makes you a rude boy, right. I'm not going to lower myself to your retarded levels.

Wonky, I look forward too seeing how you get on with it :)

I hate.st's. Chaviest "hothatch" around IMO and in my eyes its a downgrade from the clio but each to their own.

Just noticed jordi posting which reminded me I hate the zetec s's also.

bare scroats in here shooting their mouths off, anyhoo the car.... never liked them back in the day but they have really grown on me, minus stripes and lower that will look great. GF's got the mk 6 with the zetec S kit on it, not quick but great place to be in.

get them stripes off tomo, dare ya! ;)

Why the move?

The Clio imo is better at everything imo? And better has a better spec

Granted the gearbox feels nice (gf has a 6.5 ZS) but that thing of hers rattles like f**k from the drivers window area

It's not bad the ST but I still think you should have held out for a Mk1 FRS, there was a nice one at Goodwood today.

You need to 'man up' ;)

I'll pop over with my heat gun and wallpaper scrapper, and remove them if you like?

Good idea, I'll bring my chainshaw.

Did you read the first paragraph ?

I would say the fiesta has a much better spec than a 182 cup :) Also this fiesta feels so so so much solid than the Clio ever did. Granted the Clio is faster and handles better but in all honestly that's the only thing the Clio has over the Fiesta IMO.

I must admit, I like the Fords, I just see the "Fiesta" as a step backwards personally. I love my ickle Clio though, so I am biased! Dont like the stripes, but otherwise I hope you enjoy! :)

Won't to start a new thread Wonky. Where we can share constructive comments on the car?

Iv asked admin to remove quite alot of the posts in here, but now im happy to let it go until everyone has said what they want then close it.

Advantages over the ST let me think

Looks better
more torque for the power
Xenons
safe home lights
AC that works
heated front screen
6cd stereo
smoother gearbox
better cup holders
thing for my ipod
more tunable for the $$
and most of all its a FORD

Looks better and better cup holders is a preference.
My clio has xenon's and a smooth gearbox :s
my ac works
Why would you need 6cd stereo if you are gonna use your ipod anyway.

Love how you say more torque for the power.
the clio has more torque and bhp

Quite like the Fiestas. Tidy wee cars. Never driven one so no idea about handling etc. I'd probably ditch the stripes though :)

Lol at Chris having to justify his purchase to some quite frankly alphabetical fuckpigs on here! If this was a discussion on both cars I wouldnt mind, however this is his potential project thread and if he bought the car because he thinks its an upgrade from what he's had then thats all that matters.

Thats nice actually, like you said once the stripes are gone it will be very tidy, god i'd buy one on the cup holders alone, clio cup holders are good for holding anything other then cups!!

He wanted to buy a fester so he did. He is a FORD fan boy so I cant see why your moaning about it.

Chris I am sorry that this thread has reached the CS Massive and brought out the usual pathetic clio perfectionists who cannot see past their bigoted noses and that their opinion is the only one that matters.

Haters back off and if you[ve got nothing constructive to say go back to whatever chav cruise site you came from.

Chris, mu opinion for what it is worth is that I know you've had a Ford itch for some time. I can see that the Mk 1 RS would be a great weekend toy but not a daily driver so can see why you went for the Fiesta. I will reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh. As you know I am a closet blue oval fan myself having owned hot Escorts in the past.

I hope that this thread is able to turn into a good record of what you do to this car as what you did to the Cup was excellent and expect to see the same level of detail in this one.

Best of luuck with it mate.

Good choice, driven one in standard form and in modified guise (190bhp)

Lovley lovley cars. Gearbox is on a par with Honda's gearboxes i would say, very smooth shift. Reliability is a god send aswell!

My only real gripe with the Fiesta is the size of the wheels, they should have been smaller, it makes for a better drive with 16's!
