im so happy, bought a Iceberg Silver MK2 172 lastnight, 2003 model with 24k on the clock, serviced by renault at 12k and 21k, garage is doing an oil and filter change for me though before i pick it up, 1 years warranty, 1 years mot, 1 years free servicing.

just insured it for £1500 a year which at 18 with 0ncb is brilliant i thought! the guy let me test drive it myself without him in the car which i thought was really good too!

i pick it up tomorrow if i can get insurance certificate by then, if not its monday :(

how?what insurance as said before!
Well done by the way, nice one!

  Shed.
£1500 is cheap! i know people who have paid more at 18 on 1.3 N reg fiestas!!!

any bets itll be 3rd party. granted it still good, but when he crashes he will be fucked......172bp at 18 years old isnt the brightest thing to do, but im just very jealous :)

Grats mate. The best car, imo, you could have gotten. look after it and dont drive like a bell end !!!!!!!!!

ps. Insurance - How, How ???

There's only about 15 cars in the whole of Scotland, hence the cheap insurance. It's unlikely he'll hit anyone else lol. :rasp:

lol - nice one m8, bit of luck with the insurance, i got quoted 8k to insure a 197

  Not got a car
my girlfriends brother is 18 and paying £1600 to insure a shitty 1.6 k reg escort. And my brother is paying £1200 on a Seicento 1.1

£1500 on a 172, most guys on the ssc cant insure a vtr at 18

i payed £1200 this year on my 1.2 16v lol got my 1 years driving experiance and it dropped a good bit.

its 3rd party fire & theft, and i payed it all up front so no interest on it.

as for only being 18, thats not really a problem, im not an idiot of a driver on the road, ive had a year and a half of experiance on road and track in my coilovered 1.2 which due to the fact it handles so well you didnt ever need to touch the brakes haha theres a time and a place and i dont push my car to the limit round bends, i push it enough to have some fun!

thinking of ordering a set of eibach sportlines already lol

insurance is with admiral btw

How the hell do you get £1500 insurance at 18 with 1ncb when I can't get it below £2100 at 19 with 2ncb, and the admiral site won't even let me insurance it TPFT.

  MINI Cooper S
Sounds good that does if you can take the risk of 3rd party cover! What are Admiral like for mods?

lol. Just pure f**king luck !!!!!!!

Try location. Scottish drivers are the best and we don't steal stuff = low premiums. See, we're all too fat to run away - I blame the Mars bar (deep fried of course!)

TPFT - not cool! It's the other drivers on the road that could cost you dearly.

Good on ya fella! Hope you really enjoy owning and driving it, I remember when I got my first 172, I loved it, especially the green light that tells you the optimum revs to change gear! Enjoy the car mate, some great driving roads up in bonny wee scotland too!

Nice, 1 years free servicing!, does that mean they would pay for a aux belt change at 36k??

  Breaking A 172 Replica
If I were to buy a 172 I would take it out as TPFT.

It would certainly make me drive much more sensibly which would be good my health and the cars.

Too many people over pay on fully comp, I know people with N reg Fiesta's they have bought for £400 and they are paying £1600 fully comp back in the day, some people are a few sandwiches short of a picnic!
Congratulations on the new car Martin get some pics up when you get it.

just had a call from the garage saying when they done the health check on the car the front brake pads were quite low so there changing from pads, front disks and rear pads for me. and its just had its oil and filter change.

the insurance was with admiral, payed up front in a 1 off payment so no interest to add on! not sure how they are with mods as this is staying standard (for now anyway)

yeah i managed to get them down to £6700 from the advertised £7500. got 2yrs warranty, 1years mot, 1yrs servicing, 1yrs tax, new front disks, pads and rear pads, oil and filter change and a full tank of fuel!!
