Worried about my insurance...

I am on a 9 month bonus accelerator with Norwich union, Im worried that maybe in the future most companies won't accept my no claims bonus so I wouldn't of gained anything by being on my own policy. Basically my question is 'what would be my best option to go from here?' I am half way through my 9 months bonus scheme with them which runs out in January, I am 19 years old (20 in February). Would it be best to cancel now and go for a 12 month contract or to continue on with the 9 month but then maybe not even get a 'real' 1 year No claims bonus...

I hope that makes sense lol Its quite hard to explain.. If anybody else took one of the bonus schemes out would be good to hear from them.

Thanks, Adam.

i did the same, to be honest even with companies that would accept the no claims NU were still the cheapest by far.

in my opinion stick with it, however on the net quotes you are old enough to have the no claims so do it, i did it from 17 so had 1ncb before i was 18 so I couldnt even do the internet quotes.
just do a 12 month next time and go from there.

As long as they give you a certificate then other companies will accept it as a year's no claims :)

Unfortunately mine has fallen so that technically I'm too young to have as many no claims as I have so I have to phone for every quote cuz the internet won't let me put it in

I will probabaly just change to a 12 month quote then in January 2008 and have 1 'wierd' NCB and also have a proper 12 month one by the time im 21 :)

Still ages to go though lol Thanks for the advice guys.

yeah, like i said i was 17 with 1 ncb, now 18 with 2 ncb, so means i have to ring up, however you don't need to worry about it really because you are old enough to have the no claims.

  saxo :P
if ur on a bonus accelerater scheme then it means that most of the time the company ur with will only accept ur 9month(or 10) policy as a full NCB, therefore they keep your business because quotes elsewhere wont accept it. so there bound to have a competitive advantage.
go for the 12month policys then u can move companys and get cheaper insurance by looking around.

Basically I've been scammed lol :( Think it would be best to ask NU if they woul bump it up to a 12 months policy? So then I would get 2 12 month NCB or just stick with my 9 months and pray NU insure me on a 172. lol

keep the bonus accelerator and renew with 12 month policy in january, i doing this with bell otherwise i'd end up with 3 years no claim's and a claim within 3 years, nice and complicated!

lol the only problem though with keeping the 9 month policy and renewing with a 12 month is that when im 21 and have the 2 years NCB (1 9 month, 1 12 month) If NU don't insure me on a 172 then I've ended up paying silly amounts of money to get nowhere :(

The 21 would help you, as you know I found adrain flux to be the only people that were reasonable(ish!). Thats 19 w/2NCB, being 21 might help you alot think theres a few people on here that are insured at that with numerous people.

You'll manage it I think just not with NU.

Any insurance company should take it as no claims bonus whether it's an accelerator or not. I had an accelerater policy for my first one then went with another company that accepted it, after that all they know is that you have proof of 2 years ncb next time round. It won't ever be questioned, just stick with it and get a 12 month next time.

so just stick with my 9 months, get a 12 months after that then see if adrian flux insure me with 1 ncb? (or NU with the 2)

OR...

extend my 9 months to 12 months (If they let me do this), renew with another 12 months and then when im 21 call up Adrian Flux with 2 years ncb?

Also my mate said its when you come to make a claim that they look and see you where on a bonus policy and they will just end up not paying out :(

i'd of thought with you been old enough to have that amount of no claims you would be ok. plus you can provide confirmation that you have the no claims with NU to a new insurer.

you should be fine mate.
the way I see it is if you carry on with the 9 months, then do a 12 month policy NU will send out your renewal documents and they should say 2NCB discount, not the months worth. However on my policy documentation it does state the months.

I have completed 2 9 month policies with them, and now I'm on a 12 monh policy, but for my first 9 months they confused themselves and counted it as 12 months, therefore I currently have 21 months no claims instead of 18, so you might get lucky and they count it as 12 months?

add me on msn if you wanna chat about it a bit more.

I don't understand what you mean mate. Firstly I don't have any NCB yet :( which is why I went for the 9 month policy, also I could provide confirmation but on the print screen I posted above it shows that some companies won't accept the 9 month No Claims Bonus as a GENUINE 1 years No Claims :( so If Norwaich union give me a bad quote and I want to go elsewhere to look for a cheaper some companies won't accept my NCB which will mean I've paid loads of money these 9 months for nothing.....

Edit: This was meant for 'jhn' btw.

ah rite sorry i thought you had the no claims. i'm sure there are insurers that may not accept it. but some would have i would have thought. and if NU provide you with a letter stating your no claims is one year then surely this is proof enough to a new insurer.

hope that made sense. i think i'm trying to say what pepsi said, just put badly lol

lol yeh It made sense, thanks mate. I guess since I already accepted it will just stick with it and see what the documents say.
