Worth buying?

Hi, my first post on CS :)

OK, my mum owns a lovely black 172 ph2 on a 03 plate, which I helped her choose over 3 years ago. It's been a great car for her (previous she had a cool 16 valver , J reg)

Now its just gone past 90k and she's now decided to get something else and a bit newer, and something not French!

Cue me asking whether is a decent buy or not as a car to use on trackdays etc.

The car has had 1 previous women owner (not always ideal!) and has a few issues:-

Steering wheel grips falling to bits, engine mount gone (think the manifold rubs during hard acceleration) , alarm c/l does't work with the remote, curbed alloys.

Condition wise, its not bad for a car with 90k, cleaned often, FSH, decent Toyo Proxies, Xenon's, unmarked seats.

Now, price she said I can have it for 2k.

Worth snapping up? What problems may I find with this sort of milage? Car has had an easy life as she never rags it, though I give it some beans once a month when I see her.

Thoughts appreciated :)

definately a good buy imo, it should have all belts done too etc

im sure you could haggle a bit more seen as its your mum

Seems like a bargain to me. Mileage shouldnt be an issue as long as its got a decent service history.

All belts have been done, I arrange the servicing for her at a Renault specialist , all on time too.

Engine mounts look easy to replace and cheap enough from K-tec i've read.

I could haggle i guess lol

  53 Clio's & counting
id get it mate, dont worry about the miles as long as its been looked after, mines on 128,000 miles now and gets hammered but looked after and still runs lovely

P4cks, same chap off the Vx220.org?

Maybe I'm greedy wanting to a Clio as well as the VX220? :approve:

Hahahaha I thought I recognised the name but I thought it was just coincidence! I sold my VXT to fund a house-purchase so had to downgrade to a 172 Cup. I've no idea how or why I signed up here in 2002 though!
