In the past i have owned a few cars and went OTT with modding them and spending money on them.

I spent close on £6k modding a 2.5 V6 Vectra SuperTouring and sold it for £380.

With the Trophy i plan on keeping it for as long as i possibly can and this year I'm looking at putting it into a carcoon along side the ERST but my question is do i put it back to standard and get sell all the mods i have done ? Here is a list of a few things from the top of my head i have changed.

Springs - Mark Fish
Rear Seat & Door Cards - 182 Alcantara
Dash Trims & CC Pannel - Carbon Fiber
Top Mounts - AST Soil Top Mounts
Front & Rear Spacers - 20mm Front & PMS 10mm Rear
Headlights - Xenons
Samco & Forge - Full Silicon Hose Kit
Ht Leads - Red Magnecor Leads

I have every Powerflex bush for the car which i will keep on the car as this would save cost in the future as they won't need changed again.

If you're looking at putting it In a carcoon and preserving it as an investment, put it back to standard.
If you just want to look after it, then leave it as it is and enjoy it.

(Why did you sell the vectra for £380??)

I personally would sell the modified parts and put it back to standard

Any special edition is more desirable standard

I totally agree but i will not be looking to sell this car.
I don't want to mod it anymore either as i feel i have changed things for the better and added that little bit extra but i understand and agree about keeping it standard to sell.

The Rear arches where getting bad and never had time to break it along with the fact i needed cash to get the alternator changed on the Trophy

Leave it as is, your keeping it, however 10-20 years down the track when you cash in on your investment, I'm sure you'd remember to return it back to stock before selling it.

Leave it as it is but keep or obtain all of the standard parts. That way you can enjoy the fruits of your labour and protect the investment aspect of the car :).

A Clio Sport and an RST? You do have great taste. At the risk or derailing the thread what RST is it and do you have any specs?

LOL at getting £380 for the vectra:tearsofjoy:

I know @Danny_172 but i was not in the mood to rip it apart and it was at the point 5 cars where just too much and it was going to cost a good packet to get the rear arches fixed.

I would carry on using it & enjoying it.
If not sell it & move on.
Cannot see the point in storing in a bubble.

The reason it will be in a bubble is in total i have 4 cars and its not a daily. I have limited milage policy on it and i don't want it rotting to hell hence its in the bubble.
Like some people have said it is only going to go up in price as no other "Trophy" came in this spec as standard and if you want things like seats or suspension its an added extra.

If you was to convert it to standard would you leave the top mounts in or weld up the hold and have it repainted?

No holes as they are AST ones which did not need drilled.
This is the main reason i bought these.

As long as you have the standard parts then id just leave it as it is, mine needs an exhaust so im going to buy a new renault one and keep it to the side and stick a cheaper sportex one or somthing on it for using!

  225 Cup & Williams
Should have left it standard to start with.

The worst thing I done to my trophy was fanny about with it.

  Clio trophy
Bar the exhaust I'm keeping my trophy standard,if I was to modify a clio I would choose a base 1*2 because first thing I would change is wheels,suspension/brakes and interior, that would just turn my trophy into a red clio 182,cost £1000's and also lose probably £1000 in resale value, best to keep it as close to standard as possible and be sure to keep any standard parts you replace

If you are buying a genuine clio 182 Exhaust i would love to be on your wages LOL
These cost a fortune - Here is the Price without any discounts.

CAT To Centre Clamp - 7701458596 = £6.58 +vat
Center Section - 8200373725 = £230.19 +vat
Center Section Mount - 7700424341 = £8.23 +vat (Revised Red Rubber Mount)

Renault parts specialist is doing it a bit cheaper than that lol, and obviously ive not ordered a cat, fitting kits, clamps, hangers and sleves as these are all in good condition anyway, its just a backbox and centre section I needed!

Renault parts specialist might be cheaper but its still a crazy price for a back box and a centre section now matter how you look at it.

Standard for me, or at least sell the xenons!
Really like the interior of that Vectra!

Unless you plan on never using it and are purely keeping it for an investment then I would leave it as it is.

They are hardly big modifications. More like OEM improvements.

Leaving it as it is, means you can still enjoy it as much as you do now when you do come to use it again.

I do not intend on making any more modifications to the car and everything I have changed has been changed on the basis that it's OEM +

Seats and door cards have been changed to match front recaro seats.
Headlights have been changed as they are a lot brighter
AST top mounts have been changed as a OEM+ mod and it means they will never need done again along with all the bushes as they are all power flex now.

Things like spacers, carbon trim , led side lights and reg light, HT Leads and springs can all be changed at any point so it's not an issue.
As said I will not be changing anything else on the car as it is and I am not looking to sell this car either.

I personally think it's a shame that the car will be bubble'd and stored (rather than driven and enjoyed). I appreciate the why and the fact that you don't want it rotting, but I still think it's a shame to take such an impressive hot-hatch off the road when it's in such a lovely condition (not too OTT) for all round driving enjoyment. Whilst they are held in high-regard (and very much a car that defines what hot-hatches are about in many eyes) I'm still not convinced they are going to go up that much in 5, 10, 20 years time. Of course, I would like to think they would...

I look at the Pug 205 GTI now. 30 years on and mint ones are, what, 6-12 grand depending on condition, owners and mileage. For that value I would rather have spent it on the car and enjoyed it (even if the car was used infrequently). :)

That said, it's not a dig at all. It's just my personal opinion and I wouldn't try and change you mind one way or the other. Going back to the original question (and the assumption you will bubble and store the car) I would leave it OEM+ and keep the standard parts safely stored away, too.

This for me. You stand to make a small amount, if anything. Just get out there and enjoy it!

  R5gtt, 182, volvo...
Get any oe parts you need now if you don't have them..

Your investment will be worthless when you pay through your ar5e for parts..

Brand new gt turbo parts are pretty much unavailable, 2nd hand is mostly held by 2 traders..

Lucky I've been stashing parts for years..

This is what i have and plan to do and if i was to sell it it all OE parts would either be sold with the car or sold on there own.
All my OE parts are wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed but a lot of them are easy parts to get hold of like door handles etc etc

  Ex 182 owner
HI Marc,
Much like Andy said. As your car is lovely i would personally mainly store as is and like with your other major parts just keep them alongside for any future change.
Swap out the dash trim bits, cards and headlights as they are an easy quick sell on here. And I would suggest are more integral to the type of car this was rather than the being a luxury special.

Will be a shame to loose your passion for these cars being "driven" on the road.

all the best
chris

Out of interest. Your RSturbo looks stunning but I can't understand why an enthusiast such as your self doesn't have the original wheels on it. Or are they also safely stored away. Couldn't afford an RST back in the day so spent most of my time helping my mate with his grey one in Stirling. Was always a great experience being in those back then.
