Wynns Hydraulic Lifter Treatment

No. Just don't do it.

All that will do is mask the problem. If it's tappy (above the normal F4R noises) then you need to have it looked into. Do you know what oil it has in at the minute?

Castrol magnetic 5w40 fully synth iirc (gold bottle), changed approx every 6months
It's always been tappy, desphaser is a little noises but that's about due another change

From somone who bought a car with a shot camshaft and 6 very worn lifters don't do it if the engine is not terminal. It took quite some headscratching to figure it out.

The oil looked something like this as well (I had to scrape it out; I was lucky that the engine was hot when I drained it). It was once upon a time 5W30:

The wynns treatment isn't a perment fix, they tappets will start to tap after about 250miles.

It's more of fault finding treatment.

I personally don't like these additives, reminds of "belt dressing" I once saw someone use to fix a squeaky belt that was too tight. The squeak did go away, but the belt was still too tight! I think these products work off the principle of "out of sight out of mind". I've owned a few 172's and they've all been fairly tappy engines though.

I don't think any of these snake oil type things do any good, I think all clios are tappety and idle rough.
