Xbox 360 Play and Charge?

Lee

Car  BMW M2C
After burning through far to many batteries since getting the 360, my Play and Charge kit arrived the other day.

I've got one question though, and I'm wondering if anyone else who has one can verify this.

Once I've done playing, I hold down the X and select to shut down the console. I think unplug the console and put the pad, still not connected to the console, down on the side. After a few seconds one of the lights by the XBox button on the pad lights very dim and stays like this permanently.

Is that correct, as it seems like a total waste of battery power to me?

Lee

sorry to 'semi' hijack, but whats the deal with the batteries that come with the controller, are they re-chargeable? or do you only get re-chargeable with the recharge pack?

You get normal dry cells with the controller. If you buy the plug and charge kit you get a re-chargable battery pack.

Lee, my wireless controller with plug and charge kit (rechargeable battery) did this aswell..

Cheers Chris.

At least I'm not going mad, one of the lads at work reckons his doesn't, and the rest haven't noticed.

will see what mine does and let you know, I must say I am not THAT terribly impressed with the graphics on the 360, is it just me?? (i'm using HD 1080i as well!?) I've got PGR3, the graphics in the background of the location etc look good, and you can see the detail etc, but the cars don't seem as good as they should be.

No probs, I only noticed it when I put it in my sling bag, it was darker in the sling bag and noticed the glow from the X ring in the middle..

R20GRC, your kidding right ? PGR3 at 1080i is very cool.. everything is so sharp and the graphics are excellent.. they really did a good job with the reflections on the car etc.

McBunny, does the 'p' from 720p mean progressive? if so what does it mean?, also what does 'i' mean? and shouldn't 1080i be better than 720p? I have no idea (just in case you can't tell). lol.

Try Geometry wars in HD, sad I know, but it's perfect compared to on a standard TV with SCART.

P = progressive
I = Interlaced.

1080p would look better than 1080i same goes for 720p/i

yes p in 720p or 1080p means progressive ie the image is built up line after line onlike 720i or 1080i thats interlaced as in the image is line/blank/line/blank then it fills in the blank ones and so on and so on

1080i has more detail but with it been interlaced that can have a detrimental effect on the image quality

720p image
720 lines
720P_sandy_ball_1.webp

720 lines
720P_sandy_ball_2.webp

gets you this
720P_sandy_balls.webp

1080i

540 lines
540I_sandy_ball_1.webp

540 lines
540I_sandy_ball_2.webp

gets you
540I_sandy_balls.webp

so inaffect 1080i only shows you 540lines per scan unlike progressive where yougetthe full pic every time

^ that could explain what I am getting with the edging on the cars, will let you know later

LOL - wireless shite strikes again. Have we really become that detached (not meant ironically) that we can no longer use controllers with wires???

Until controllers come with their own cold-fusion power supplies, I'll stick with as much wired technology as I can. I think the Marketing Men will have forced onto me "no option other than wireless", long before then though..... :(

D.

When I got home earlier mine was still showing a faint green light.

I stopped playing about half an hour ago and it's fine now.

I disagree Darren fella, the wireless on the 360 is flawless and bloody awesome, one of the best features of the eggbox 360 IMHO

yeah i really like the wireless ness of the controllers

but i'd like an on screen warning of the batteries are dying

i'm sure i saw a battery symbol on mine the other day in the dashboard, maybe i was imagining it but i was sure i saw it?

there is supposed to be a battery charge meter in the dashboard apparently, ( when you have a play and charge kit ), I looked everywhere for it last night and couldn't find it. :( I love the wireless controllers, I also think the fact that you can turn the console on and off from them is awesome, I can't think of any reason why wireless controllers would be a bad thing, WTF??

There is a battery meter, press your guide button in a game for eg, and its top left, looks kinda like a battery ;)

oh and it works on the normal batteries too, not just the gay and charge kit

guide button?

The big X in the middle of the pad.

There is a small battery meter, but it's not very good. I just wait until the light on the pad flashes before I put it back on charge.

ah ok, so what are the best games? I've only got PGR3 at the moment, going to trade in my Xbox tomorrow and get a couple of others, thinking Call Of Duty 2 and ....? unsure.

*** don't fancy Dead Or Alive 4 ***

Has anyone seen Rumble Roses for 360? It's really going a bit far now. You can adjust the breast size, muscle on the legs, abs and arms and then dress the female fighters in anything you want!!!

You werent working on that game by anychance were you lee ? seems to have many of the attributes you look for ..

thats the problem i tend to look at the screen when playing a game and you can't really pause it in the middle of the game to see how much power you have left:(
