xbox surround sound wiring question...

  none, just walk
The set up at home i have is

42 inch hd tv with a 2 scart leads sockets, hdmi, and vga socket.

sky plus box with 2 scart lead sockets.

xbox 360

samsung dvd surround sound system with 2 scart lead sockets.

I have the tv linked up to the sky by scart, xbox to tv through vga and dvd system to tv through scart.

Im wanting to play my xbox through the surround sound speakers, and then when i turn it off i can watch sky in surround sound also.

what set up do i need to do?

Is there a way to do this without having to unplug any wires each time i want to change them over?

has the samsung DVD system got an optical input? or any other sort of AUX input?

the way to do it would be to connect the 360 to the AUX in on the DVD, then when playing the 360 select the AUX on the DVD system and away you go...depends on cables/connections really

for true 5.1 surround you need an optial lead.

If you don't have this on your surround sound system, just use 2 RCA from the TV into the surround sound. It won't be true 5.1 but you'll get virtual surround from your speakers

what they said, i needed to get a new setup to get the optical, but for me, it was worth it.

I had to buy an amp as my sony home cinema kit didnt have the right connections on the back. But when i got the amp it was so big it didnt fit under my tv so i sent it back. I dont get full surround sound with the sony which is annoying, so im on the lookout for a new home cinema kit with optical.
