Xenon flickering

  Megane 2 GT 165
Hey guys,

Yesterday noticed my Xenon on the pasagers side (on UK cars) was out, so switched it off and on, and it went on again.

2 minutes after I noticed it flickering and 1 minute later is was out again.
If I switch the lights off and on, it will come on again. (same color as the drivers side one).

It stays on from a few second to a few minutes.

What's my best bet...starter or ballast?
And by the way what do both do? Starter makes the starting current ofcourse, but what does the ballast do?

Thanks in advance,
Felix

most likely its a bulb. try switching the bulbs around and see if that makes any difference.

My 182 did something similar to this except it would blow the fuse when the bulb went out. Turned out to be the ballast.
~£40 off here, £1xx from Renault.

before you go about swapping kits about, have you tried checking the connection to the bulb socket. If its not connected properly this can cause HID flickering.

To do that properly in the 172/182 you have to take the front bumper off anyway so its easy to try a new the drivers side bulb first in the passenger side then start looking at the wiring. (In my opinion anyway)

Id imagine it to be the bulb dude as I have a similar issue in that if I turn thee lights on passenger side comes on fine..turn them off and turn them back on..passenger side doesnt turn on for a good 5 or six more on/off sequences.

First I though it was my ballasts/starter (f**k! expensive :( ) but I had the bumper off to fit a splitter recently and whilst there swapped them over..the fault follwed with the bulb so therefore a faulty bulb. Good ol cheap ebay s**t :)
