Xenon headlight adjuster fail

  Clio 182
On my 182 with xenons I can't make the headlights go higher. They seem to be pointing very low.
I have disconnected the adjuster rod off the rear beam and the lights don't alter height if I move it from too to bottom.
Any ideas what's going on before I buy a new load valve.

  172's for breaking
Think the internals of the headlight pivot in two places plus the adjuster, they can some times break on one of the pivot points so then no longer adjust. Take the cover off the rear of the lamp and see if the internals are loose.

I removed the sensor off the rear beam and with some jigging and hitting both lights went up, but when I move the arm up and down neither light will move then all of a sudden they both will.
rules out both front motors so looks like a new sensor for the rear beam is required as its not working as intended.

Doesn't it have to sit at an angle for so long before it moves the headlights? Surely the motors would burn out constantly moving when on a bumpy road!

Your probably right, but mine were sitting for about 10 mins from fully up to down then central with nothing happening.
I put markers on the wall where the light sat and after some tapping and wobbling the light beam moved down and then back up, I could see this as I was laying down the side of the car with my arm adjusting the rod. They moved very fast but didn't work most of the time. The lights are now up and I've removed the sensor to get me by.

I Fitted another sensor onto the rear beam tonight and the lights work by going up and down again.
The way they seem to work is, with ignition off the rod sits at the desired level and when you fire up the car and turn on the lights they adjust up to a certain height. Now if you leave them on and move the rod of the rear beam up or down it won't adjust the headlights, well it didn't for me despite several tries and waiting 5 mins.
But if you turn the lights off and move the rod again then turn them on again they will move to the new position.
