right forund a place on the net who do them, but i have heard that you need clear cglass for them to work!!!is this true or will they be okay on my clio16v(1995)the kit just plugs into your normal wiring and replace your buld with a xenon one!!

where to on the net did you find them???

i would think they would be ok cos they just replace the bulb with a more effiecent one

But the proper xenons require the charge packs (which chuck out 10,000 volts aparantly) and a whole load of other stuff, it aint just a case of swapping a couple bulbs..

probably nearer 22kv  but the cheapest place i found a deccent kit was selling it for £500

hi found a place on ebay what do them for £150,they are from america i think, just do a search around the world and there are quite a few, think the power is 10,000k

From what I saw on ebay tho, £150 doesnt seem to get you Hi/Lo Xenons, which I guess youd be after, these are $300-$400. And will they plug straight into a Renault wiring plug, I doubt theyd stock Renault stuff. Much more likely to be North American domestic models/high end German/Jap only.

And are the 10,000k+ legal over here? Some of the pics of the lights do look very purple, its illegal to have anything but white coming from the front of your car isnt it? (I know the likes of Vauxhall Omegas HID are very blue mind)

yeah the 10,000K ones id imagine to be very blue/purple

ive seen h4 ones that were £600 (from a british company) that actually did do the hi/lo beams which i think are the ones you need on a mrk 1.

the plugs i think dont matter what car their for, it just needs to be the same bulb type (h4, h1, etc)

yeah i seen then new lagunas and they have purple lights!!so i am lookin to spend about £600 on lights hmmmm £££££££,but what about the clear glass?will i need it or not?if so surely there must be some comp out there who will take a mold of my glass and make a clear 1,or sum how polish the lines of my glass.

It is

Illegal to display Red lights on the front of your car.. (Any other colour is Ok.. But if you have blue for example, as long as they do not flash ie impersonating an emergancy vehicle then it is OK)

It is Illegal to show anything but Red on the rear of your vehicle.. (reverse lights are not included in this law)

yeah they need to have auto adjustment and have clear glass/plastic as anything else will totally scatter the beam, id steer well clear of anything other than official ren parts. oh and 172/182 lights are only dip not full beam anyway.

Id guess custom glass would be really expensive, but custom plastic might be worth a shot, then you have this self leveling/washer problem tho. Im sure for the washers you could T into the windscreen washer jets or somthing. Anybody got any ideas to get round the self leveling?

are the renault HID bulbs different to other HID bulbs. They are much much brighter and more purple than some HID units espeically rubbish mini ones which look hardly any different to halogen ones?

From what I saw on ebay it depends on what k they are, 6000k is white->8000k blue->10000k blue/purpleish->12000k+ purple. The ratings dont reflect how powerfull they are, just a different colour temperature or something.

id say clio ones are prob 10K or 12K then, when you turn them on ther are purple then settle down to blue, apart from top of beam which is pure purple.

quality!

well the way i look at it is the hid lamps are just a different means of producing light. so the light reflector that produces the light beam would not need to be changed

are you talking about the clear glass? I was thinking the same thing, Its just 3 times brighter so shouldnt NEED clear glass, it should just be an improvement over the original light source. Saying that though I dont recall seeing a car that has HID and doesnt have clear glass, not that Ive been paying that much attention tho.
