Xenon lights problem!!!

Straight to the point, this happened on my sisters 52 plate 172...

what would have caused this?
Renault have said she needs a new headlight, ballast and ignitor! She is trying to sell her car so this is much more than she wants to spend. Is it possible to
convert the headlights to basic halogen headlights and bulbs? And is it easy to do?

Way more hassle than it's worth trying to convert them. Cheaper/easier to just get a set of second hand 1.2 headlights from a scrappy. Will mean people trying to knock you down on price/ thinking it's been in a crash when you come to sell though.

Also, the items you listed above can be had off here much cheaper than Renault's ludicrous prices.

1.2 lights use basic normal bulbs don't they? That's what I mean, but will they use the same connectors as the xenon ones?

Someone was selling some headlights for £100 including all ballasts etc the other day.

Hmm wont people just assume its been in a smash and repaired on the cheap if its missing the Xenon headlights tho? I wouldnt recommend downgrading so to speak if your trying to sell it on.

if thats the only thing that is damaged id replace that and see what happens

as it probably just burnt out because it was faulty

swap ur igniter from the other light into that one to see if the bulb and ballast are knackered.which they may not be.then if not you only need an ignitor which is cheap off here

This was a reasonably new headlight though, probably around 2months old, could this really be faulty? What is the thing in the picture called? And did something plug into it?

Yeah it's a straight swap.

Unless it's from a newer car (from personal experience!).

Just a simple one, was a case of where the smaller wire plugged in at the back, it was different on mine to the xenon's I got.
Just a case of clipping them off and swapping them over though!
