Xenon problem

  182
Hi guys

My passenger side xenon went out, I managed to get the bumper off and I switched it about and it worked fine on the driver side so I switched everything from the drivers side to the passenger side (bulb and power pack bit).

Everything from the passenger side (not working to start) worked in the diver side and everything from the driver side (orginally working) didn't work on the passenger side.

So both bulbs and power packs are working but not when they are in the passenger side.

What's the problem and can I fix it?

Did you swap the ballast over? By power pack do you mean the igniter that is connected to the bulb, the square thing.
The ballast is under the headlight and are the most common cause of xenon failiure

I meant the igniter, yes.

I'll need to check the ballast then, what excatly am I looking for and where?

The ballast is underneath the headlight the silver box is held on by 3 torx bits think it's t15 or t20.

As the gent's above have said, it sounds like your ballast has given up. It's a bit of a nightmare to get to, but echoing what Mad Max said, it'll be a slim, silver box which will be fastened to the underneath of your headlight casing by 3-4 torx bits.

You'll need to replace it with the same Renault OEM ballast, as an aftermarket ballast wont connect - we've tried it on a Megane 225.

Let us know how you get on fella.

this happened to mine, i originally thought it was bulbs so bought new ones, but when i fitted them and it still didnt work i discovered it was the ballast, the water in the connector confimed my thoughts - since then i have replaced it and been advised frm my local renault specialist to silicone seal the connector as this seems to be a reocurring theme with these. Renault part is £183 for replacement, but scour ebay, managed to get mine for £54 incl p&p

was where the ballast plugged into underside of headlight - seeminly the rubber isnt sufficient enough to resist water penetration,

have u checked fuses? xenons are fused indepently - 15A fuse, 3 along top and second top row of fuse box iirc - would consult manual just incase though
