Generally no.
My car is similar in colour to the sky. If i put my xenons on I'm afraid people might mistake me for sky/sun combo and pull out in front of me.

whats funny? see page 17 about "Conspicuity" running bright lights amongst others just means you blend in..

...is it just me or does the guy in the car look quite pleased with himself? (img is from the report above)

I also drive with Xenons on during the day sometimes, mostly when it's overcast, not usually in bright sunlight.

Ahahahaha. This is a miracle. LOL at the camo example. Do soldiers in camo wear xenons to blend in?

They should only do so in the case they don't want to stand out amongst other xenon wearing folk.

I'm afraid the comparison has been lost in translation.

Remember contrast not luminance..

If the biker had been wearing military spec camo, this would not of happened.

Take heed bikers......

I think some of you are being deliberately obtuse.

The guy is saying that if some c**t fails to spot your car in broad daylight then they're clearly not looking or their vision is blocked by parked cars/wildebeest/cataracts. In which case lights are gonna do fuckall.

I agree with this.

That's true but a bright light is going to make your car more likely to be seen.

If someone is going to pull out, your lights might make the difference between him seeing you and not. He might still pull out. But if having them constantly saves you from one accident, it's good enough for me.

And this :)

The rest is just hole digging and piss taking!

I run with my lights on 90% of the time on my Clio, just out of habit more than anything and I don't have xenons.

I love it when people get involved in an Internet Argument and pretend they're too busy or too cool to get involved. Did you never see Why Don't You?

I dont have mine on in the bright daylight, dont see the point TBH. Strikes me as abit " hey look at my car, its got Xenons, its not a 1.2 - smart "

On a dark/overcast day then yeah, they make an appearance so I can be seen that much easier.

I keep mine on.

When i'm in the outside lane on the M1 and i can't see my own lights burning a hole in some c**ts rear bumper it just means i'm not close enough to get the sucker to move over.

I don't understand how I can get involved and then pretend I'm too busy/cool to get involved.

Original question - I sometimes drive around with the xenons on during the day,..

I don't understand how people think having your lights on during the day wont make you more visible... ofcourse having your lights on during the day will make you MORE visible.. it wont mean people will definatly see you, but it will increase the chances they see you....

On the way home today, 22 degrees of sunshine, not one person with the headlights on (bar a few DRL cars)

How many of you would have still had your lights on?

The chances of someone at a junction seeing you are increased a million percent when you have you headlights on. I don't want someone careering into the side of me so i've always done it.

if you're side on, the oncoming car will have no idea if your lights are on or off ;)

i've never used lights on a clear bright day, and in 20+ years i've never T-boned anybody, been involved in a motorway pileup, mown down anybody in a shopping precinct or driven through a hedge because i don't drive like a cnut when there are generally more people out and about

That's brilliant. It proves f**k all mind but it's still brilliant.

Except those who have clearly stated the safety benefits regardless of xenons, but let us not spoil the fun with more facts.

It's definitely not for safety because you're less visable with your lights on...

Only stick them on in the day if its really cloudy or raining. Generally if I see someone with them on when its sunny i just think they're a bit of a tw*t.

Difficult to prove whether it's actually any safer or not, I guess. Difficult to quantify accidents that haven't happened, or that a car is more conspicuous with low beam lights on in bright sunlight. I'm not sure, and my opinion stands that if people haven't seen your car it's because they haven't looked, not because the ton of metal driving along the road at speed hasn't got its lights on.

There does seem to be a bunch of people jumping on the safety bandwagon when, if they're honest, they roll with their xenons blazing because they're so frickin' cool. LOL
