Yes another ABS/brake thread

  Bus w**ker
Don't worry search police I've been there and done that and can't find an answer :(.

ABS on Ph1 172, is it not as aggresive as some other ABS'? Reason I ask is that I decided to test mine out at low speed last night after replacing the fucked balljoints and it didn't appear to kick in, other ABS I've experienced in the past literally bounced down to a stop as it pumped the brakes.

Got a lovely grind noise, no lock up and the car came to a halt quickly. Can't say I spotted the light on the dash come on or flash whilst doing so, but during self test on start up the ABS light comes on for a couple of seconds and goes off. :S

One thing I did notice, as I couldn't not, was a lovely knock/bang as I braked hard. I'm guessing at exhaust but I've not checked. Anyone got any ideas on what to check out to try and find out what's making the noise, it was like this before the balljoints were replaced but I thought it was down to them along with all the other creaking and knocking noises lol. FAIL.

Thanks for any help, tips, clues, promises of love, etc.

Sy

XOXO

It sounds like your abs is working fine, the light wont come on the dash unless theres a fault. If the wheel didnt lock and it stopped quick theres nothing to worry about. Did the pedal pulsate at all??

As for the bang it could be a few things, was if from the front or the rear??

Ah right cheers lads. Pedal went nearly all the way to the floor and did vibrate, slightly. I'm just used to shitty Vauxhall ABS where it locks and unlocks the wheels five or so times a second.

I think the knock/bang is coming from the front but I'll double check when I go back out in a bit, only happens on really hard braking. It does have some chav gash Powerflow cat back exhaust on so I'm wondering if one of the boxes is twatting something when it's being flung forward. If I can't figure it out/fix it myself I'll just run it into the garage that does all the work on my car that I can't do or can't be arsed to do lol and let them figure it out.
