Yozza (mk1) Centre section

  Racing Blue 182
Hi all,

I have just bought a yozza and someone has fucked around with it and cut the centre section up and welded a flange on it! I want to fit it with my cat but I don't want to weld a flange onto my cat to fit (as I don't want to bodge something to make up for another bodge!).

Does anyone ever sell just the centre section for these used? I see centre sections coming up for sale a couple of times so I guess people replace them etc. I would like one to make it standard again.

I guess Fred could possbily make another one up but I expect they will be pricey!

Has anyone seen a used one for sale?

Thanks

i'll have to check, but you'll be around £180 for just the centre as a rough guess, you could always post it up to me and i'll refabricate it

Thanks Fred! Will it be an expensive job to get it refabricated? How much will I be looking at (roughly)? I still have my old exhaust so this will be possible!

I just want it to be back to normal with the olive fitting (I think that's what it is called!) so I can fit it with my cat!

Thanks

Or could you not cut the flange off the centre section, flare it to an internal diameter of 2.5" to then take a sleeved joint from your cat which Fred can mod to a 2.5" freer flowing exit? That way you have the best of both worlds. A freer flowing cat and system, and a stronger joint that will never leak

Do you not like the decat?
No I like it how it sounds most of the time. But it is a home made decat that is just a crappy piece on metal tube, with a flange on both ends! It has the worst welds me and my mechanic have ever seen and it is all rusty now!

id rather just have it as standard.

Rhys, thanks for the suggestion, but for someone who does not know much about cars I wouldn't know what to ask etc. I wouldn't know what looks right etc and it might get done wrong. I just want an easy cheapish solution because I only paid £150 for it and I want it to stay a bargain

I understand where you are coming from.
Typically the "sleeved" joint that I suggested would cost maybe £60-70 I would think just for reference

OK thanks. I don't really get what this involves, but I will talk to my mate whos a mechanic and maybe he knows where I could take it to get it done!

Its just chopping both the olive ends(or flanges in your case), so you have two end bits of pipe, flaring it out slightly so they fit inside each other and then a clamp.

That's one 519Automotive did.

Yeah I saw that in my other thread! It looks good!, but what would I have to do to my cat to do this?

And flaring, what does this mean/involve?

Sorry to be dumb but I know nothing

It can be sleeved on a cat pipe too. The tapered section is chopped a little with a pipe welded. That fits over the centre section then a clamp on it. Sleeve joint. It's the best way. Fred done mine. His welding skills are second to none too

Not really cos there is a flange on the end of the cat.

If you want to run a sleeved cat it will need to be chopped and welded.

Or you can do like i've done and buy a miltek decat, a sleeve joint, 2 clamps and chop the end of the centre section off.
