new shocks 182?

  182
i noticed my rear drivers side shock has a slight leak and also the back looks lower than the front plus when over a bump in road quite loud thud on the rear side,

So i think i will replace both sides asap, should i replace with standard shocks or is there a similar priced better option,,,,,?

also best price to get replacement shocks?

thanks

just buy the standard ones for your car.. look on here Renault Wolverhampton , they have a price list up, they are about £50 each
make sure if your car is a cup pack ,get the cup ones..

They aint £50 more like £38 each. But yes as said above renault wolverhampton is the cheapest place to get them.

Not a definitive indicator, but does your car have the anthracite 182 alloys on it? Or are they standard silver colour? Anthracite will be the Cup suspension, unless they have been swapped over previously. Renault Wolverhampton should be able to confirm from your chassis number, I would have thought?

Oh, and change them out yourself - don't bother with a garage. Even for a methodical, laborious spanner-monkey like myself - new rear dampers can be change out in minutes. Really easy to do.

if you look at your front springs ,should have a blue and yellow marks on them,(cup) just to make sure ,measure the distance ,between the 2 bolts(centre of the bolts) on your front damper.,better if you take the front wheel off. it will be either 54mm or 60mm,i think cup pack is 60mm ,
am sure others on here will confirm if that's correct..or not

ok will do this when get a chance, if it is standard suspension not cup then how easy is it to change to cup ,since i am changing rear shocks anyway should i just change to cup suspension (if i don't already have it) and is it a jjob i can do myself or is it much harder than just changing dampener

as Darren s stated ,its not that hard.. not done it myself.. I had sportlines and dampers and top mounts fitted ,at the same time.

but I guess you if you have a jack and stands its easy.. if you only have one jack guess it can be done(just be careful).
I would loosen the bottom bolts while still on the ground.loosen one in the boot.. jack it up so the damper is extended, then slide it out. then put new one on.. forgot what the torque settings are.maybe get 2 new nuts for the top of the dampers, think they are nylon.

Wise words. Slacken both of them while still in situ. If you remove the bottom bolt fully, there's a good chance that in trying to undo the top one, the damper simply spins around.

The top nuts on mine were really quite tight indeed. I needed the length of a long-arm with the rear seats down to 'break' the nylon thread.

You should know you was also ripped off.

As they are only £36.78 each front or back, and iirc they was £35ish last year so even cheaper.

Where was yours from?

I'd be surprised if you could change the front struts one at a time as the front anti roll bar will be under tension. You'd need both front wheels in the air.

I thought he is just replacing the rear ones... doing the front dampers, as you say is a lot harder..need to take the spring off.

if its not a cup, you cant put cup dampers on it, but you can get koni yellow dampers..and maybe sportsline springs..
I was like you. didn't know what mine was ,never had a clio before..
all depends what you want, what you want to spend..
if its not a cup you have a lot more options,
I found out mine was a cup, so I got ebach sportlines and 4 new dampers .also changed top mounts at the same time..

1st thing you have to do is find out what your car is.. take it from there..

Will have a look at weekend as not sure if cupped (don't think so) will check the bolt spacing as suggested by people on forum, then most likely get standard dampener as i got loads of other costs to worry about first, like cam belt service and new exhaust so lots to do first,

thanks for all the advice
