Hopefully be good fun. I don't mind it sliding about a bit so long as it's predictable. So I'm interested to see what it will handle like as so far only pottered about a bit on the road.
Only finally got the map into a fit state yesterday too. Last minute motorsport. Lol.

Had a great evening at Bedford.

Was bit of a strange one in that there were quite a few quick cars there but driven slowly so I was passing everything more or less.

Beanie's mk1 was a fair bit quicker on the straights but seemed similar on the twisty bits but we only got playing in the last session and there was quite a lot of traffic.

really pleased with how it drove on it's first ever use in anger.

only two faults I noticed:
the drivers door catch is worn and the door can come open on hard left bends
the dash kept freezing. Very annoying as meant it lost both the rpm and the mph at once which obviously meant I couldn't carry as much entry speed to bends as I could have if I knew what speed I was actually going.

Chip, slightly off topic, is your van a 2.5 or 1.9? How good is it at towing??

Mine is a 2.5tdi mate. The intercooler model (non intercooler one is 14bhp less) and it's a Lwb one.

It tows fantastically well in terms of stability and does 30mpg towing at 65mph but it lacks power a bit when towing up steep hills so you have to change down a gear or on really steep stuff down two.

Will be better soon though as I've got uprated njectors and a bigger intercooler for it so once mapped afterwards it will be up from 100bhp standard to about 160bhp or so, and a similar gain in torque so should monster up hills then

yeah les used to go to all the mk1 meets etc and informs me it's a pretty well known car in MK1 circles. Seemed to be going well and be certainly knows the track well.

Me and dan had a bit of spare time earlier so met up for a matter but decided instead of a pub we would meet at the rollers as my mate is happy to just lend me his cell and leave me to it. so lobbed my car on to grab a power figure and I did a bit of mapping on it and found a few more horses and he tidied up a bit of midrange stuff on his.
Was 164bhp before just from the quick road map i had done and 173 after (173.5 was best run but didn't get a picture of all of them)

Will upload a few snaps les grabbed while we were tinkering if the pub wifi behaves.

No mate that's a company called Motorpsort Electronics but Matt who started mtec is one of the guys involved with ME too. But it's a seperate company and a totally new product. The mtec ecu was MS based but the new one is entirely new hardware and software from the ground up. It's the most configurable aftermarket ecu I'm aware of in fact. You can configure it to run literally anything, rotary, diesel the lot!
Not finished yet though. I should have an alpha test unit this winter and I guess it will go beta test next year sometime.

Specialist components do a diesel ecu...

I tried them when I want one for the dci , aparently they don't make one suitable for the common rail 1.5s. Would be lovely if they did, would mean I can run Bosch fuel parts rather than being stuck to Delphi

vtec lump will be going in. Just the house move and sorting out etc (added an extra kitchen and bathroom etc) took a lot of time

The spare front end is currently 200 miles away so not easy for me to work on at the moment till I finish sorting garages out etc.
