How many KMs are too many for a 182?

Reality is, they can go in forever if they’re maintained properly.

You’d get some 150,000 mile Clios healthier than 50,000 mile ones, depends on how well it’s looked after.

Cheers thanks for the opinions. I'll recommend the purchase. it's interstate so will be paying for inspections and the like prior to purchase, was just wondering if it was a no-no at that milage.
In Australia we don't have too many of them so parts won't be as readily available.
Another thing is the Price. It's $4,000 cheaper and yet looks like it's been kept in better condition and has a couple of mods.
So back to my second question. Are there any common problems with 182s? anything in particular we should be worried about before committing?

When people keep harking on about good history, what they really mean is that the cambelt, dephaser, water pump auxillary belt & all associated pulleys & tensioners have been replaced every 5 years.
Budget $1200 if there is no history, and it needs doing by someone with the proper timing tools, not some back street outfit with a tippex.

Depending on if a Clio has been in-country for a long time, you'll probably be less likely to suffer the usual long-term weather related issues that we get in the UK.

Rust is one to keep an eye out for - certainly after 12 years. Seals are likely to start degrading by this point - I had an O/S driveshaft one let go last week. Similarly, a injector failed on cylinder No.2 a few weeks prior to that. Not huge jobs themselves, but little niggles that undoubtedly crop up over that number of years & mileage.

Id rather have one driven by a guy in his thirties to work on the motorway, serviced properly and parts replaced every mot, than a low mileage example driven around town by a young lad who rags it on his short journey to work. You'll know which you're getting when you speak to the owner and see the service file!

Provided they are maintained correctly they will go on forever pretty much.

not just the cambelt etc either, regular oil/filter changes are a must to keep the dephaser happy and the engine in general.

Rest of the car you will get normal wear and tear, gearboxes and clutches need to be watched in the older cars, I had to replace my clutch at 153,000 miles. gearbox is still okay if a little whiny so I just change the box oil every couple of years (24,000 miles between changes ish) and as someone else mentioned, injectors can be a repeated pain.

Mines now on 175,000 miles and engine is still sweet as a nut, its had the oil changed every 6,000 miles since it was 8 months old though hence I harp on about oil changes.
