Crash question

  Golf Mk6 tdi
Ok this isn’t a debate about who is at fault etc, my question is about how fast do we think the black car was travelling? I was stopped and about to put the car into drive, completing my manoeuvre to get out of the car park. No number plate as it was smashed off.

If that's cosmetic only I'd say 10-15 tops.

I had someone drive into the back of my Fiesta at 25 and it creased the boot floor massively and pulled the boot lid in as well.

That doesn't look too bad from the pictures.

Yeah the bonnet, light and bumper of the other car got smashed.

Modern car crumple zones are meant to go quite easily aren't they? I think 10-15 could do that easily, that's a lot of energy to dissipate.

Yeah it’s the tears in the bumper which worried me. Also the number plate screw was ripped sidewards through the plate, before the plate was ripped off.

How many albums has snoop dog had, ask anyone that question, it’s something like more than ten, less than 30.

So you'd reversed out and she drove into you? Then she was going too fast in a car park, or not looking where she was going.

In a nutshell yes, I was just putting the car into drive.

The lady did state she was looking at spaces available in the next row but it’s my word against hers. I am awaiting the outcome as Sainsbury’s have kept a recording of the CCTV - which my insurance dismissed until I said I want you to review it.

What do you mean putting the car into drive? Surely you were reversing out of the space.

IMO you’re at fault. She has right of way

Automatic so foot was on the brake as I was preparing to move forward. I had already reversed out of the space.

If you see she hasn’t hit the rear 1/4 it’s the corner/middle of the bumper.

Like I said it’s not a whose to blame it was how fast do you think she was going to cause the damage.

I had an idiot neighbour come steaming round a blind corner and nearly take my front end off in a car park - I was doing under 1mph as I was creeping forward, he was going too fast to stop in the distance he could see to be clear.

Who was at fault in the eyes of the insurer?

Me, because the end of a car parking space should be treated as a Give Way line (apparently).

My damage was a £30 replacement indicator. His damage was over £3k thanks to a written off vehicle because the doors were pushed in and he tried it on with whiplash (t**t).

Where you stand WRT being stationery in the running lane while about to set off, rather than being half out of the space, I don't know.

I think the CCTV will be key.

That’s my issue, I was 98% through the manoeuvre but I think it will be 100% my fault as my insurance didn’t seem interested in what happened.

The reason I ask about the speed is they said it’s hard to tell if she was going over 5 mph just from the damage.

All you can say is in your opinion if it was too fast or not. You can’t prove what speed and I’m surprised they even asked that daft question.

Should’ve said you didn’t have your speed gun to hand

Tell them to send an damage assessor to look at the cars and guess the speed as that's more their job than yours.
f**king insurance companies are corrupt as f**k.
