Paint Blemish/Poor respray? Help!

Hi all,

As you can see in the images i have a weird patch of paintwork thats on the passenger door. There is a long key scratch on there and so part of me thought it might be the old WD40 trick when I collected the car. However, after a few months and weekly (sometimes twice weekly) washing, its going nowhere. Does anyone have any clue what it might be? I just want it gone as its ruining the look of a tidy car.

Thanks in advance,

Will

Yeah it does look really bad in this picture. Its spot on in person....well as good as they usually are. Its because 1 panel is metal and 1 (the wing) are plastic. I always thought it was a badly painted door but having now been on my 2nd silver 182, I can confirm theyre like that lol

Bad smart repair or similar? Try giving it a full decon and machine polish.

Its had fallout remover on it twice from memory. I dont believe I have clayed this section yet but thats due as soon as i can. Ill give that a shot. The car is also going to get a full machine over the winter so ill pay attention to that spot. Ill be using maguiars ultimate polish...that should be up to the task?

I like the Menzerna stuff but i'm no expert! Could also try a light wet-sand but leave that until last IMHO.

I have quite a plethora of stuff to be honest as i bought my DA as a job lot from a friend. He went and bought a rupes and wanted all their compounds with it.

The spray bit looks like someone has gone at it with some spray paint of a similar colour. Very odd thing to do. Why on earth would you just spray a panel to fill a scratch in.....o_O

Oh that sucks! Looks like its here to stay then! At that size, it must have been one of those Ebay 'scratch repair' 'kits'. Thanks to all.

Its burnt though the laquer and base coat down to another layer of laquer. So its definitely been painted in the past.

At first glance it looked like a repair that had bled through the paint or not enough base coat to cover the repair but its 99% a burn mark. Get it resprayed. It wont break the bank
