*help* snapped bolt

  Clio 172 ph1
I was dropping the fuel tank earlier and one of the bolts snapped.

Would people recommend using a bolt extractor or drilling the whole bolt out and retap the thread?

All this for a PMS anti roll bar?

Try a bolt extractor, failing that yeah drill it... Ballache.

This was all what my neighbour just said who is a machinist.... he said if the bolt extractor snaps it's made of hardened steel so drilling is then a nightmare.

Yea drill out as much as you can then use an extractor, so if the bolt is 5mm diameter, drill out at least 4mm then use the extractor to get the remnants, should be a sliver of metal and the threads left.

A kit here

Oh that type of extractor... Some reason i thought it had snapped off leaving some showing and you were going to use one of those ones that bite in and grab hold of what's left.

That is weird, although I sprayed penetrating fluid a few days before all the fuel tank bolts were the nicest of the entire job. Lovely clean threads!
