Oops, I may have just done a naughty purchase and bought a Fanatec CSR Elite racing bundle. No idea when it will be delivered or when I will get time to take advantage of it but I was feeling left out with all the sim-racing that's going on right now. :p
Very jealous! What rig will you be mounting it to?

It's really good, although I'm a dickhead and I've scratched one of the lenses ALREADY with my glasses. Waiting for some watch face polish to arrive to see if I can buff it out, internet seems to suggest it will (and some screen protectors for them)

My 1070 was absolutely fine with HL: A from what I could tell, so your 1080 will be fine

How you manage that! Rift S is quite good for spectacles. The original was awful, though

I hope you went all 918 on the shopping basket as well, Andy? ;)

Still not sure! Must have tried to take it off without taking the tension out of the band

To be fair I might have done mine. Just too blind to notice.

I rarely use it. I get VR sickness with anything with too much forward locomotion. Played Walking Dead for about 30 minutes last week, and it took me 24 hours to fully recover. f**king hate having motion sickness. Anything with teleportation I can stomach for longer.

I've not had time/the energy to play this week

Playing The Climb messed with my stomach for like a day!

Sim lab p1-x is probably the best on the market below 1k. Very sturdy and a lot of racers/YouTubers use it.
That's without the seat though isnt it?

The new trakracer 8020 rig is just under £900 with a seat.

Yeah I've been wanting to try that but I know it'll do me over. It's not like the room spins or anything like full-on labyrinthitis, it's like my head is going side to side really quickly and I'm just slightly off-balance for the rest of the day or more. Makes me not want to use it. Apparently the Index is better for motion sickness for a few reasons, including the higher refresh. Not paying close to 1k to find out, though

It feels like someone has grabbed my stomach and has just squeezed it slightly. It's a weird feeling. I don't get motion sick in cars or anything, even reading books etc

Same. Can't tolerate rollercoasters anymore, though. Gotten worse with age! Powered through it in Orlando few years back. I have a really strong stomach but not the head for it.

Thinking about a new PC build, budget around £1500. I will need to get monitor/s,keyboard, mouse etc, but i am not including them in the budget. Main focus is gaming/sim racing, i could end up using it for VMs or other heavier stuff down the line.

Let me know what you think.

CPU - Ryzen 7 3700x £280
Motherboard - MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX £100
RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB CMW16GX4M2Z3600C18 £105
GPU - Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER WINDFORCE OC £520
Cooling - EZDIY-FAB 120mm ARGB Fans £38 (Could add an AIO also)
Case - Phanteks P400A - £90
Storage - Corsair MP510 480GB £90 + 4TB HDD £160
PSU - Seasonic Focus GX750 £100

Total = £1483

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check them out. A local friend of mine runs the Simlab setup along with a motion kit (I think it cost about 3 grand extra) but it looks awesome. I was due to pay him a visit but then the whole world went mad and we locked-down. :(

I’d recommend changing the HDD to a 2TB and adding the biggest SSD you can get for the OS. Without looking at the specs I imagine the motherboard will take a M.2 drive, or similar, which will make it so much faster.

The reason why i have a 4TB is for the game library, i already have almost 3TB on the Xbox alone. I think i would need 4TB as a minimum.

The SSD i chose is an M.2 Nvme drive, i could go to Sata M.2 or 2.5 if i really wanted to cut the cost down. I think 500GB should be enough for OS and the applications.

On that, I've got a 970 EVO 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD that's an open box, unused, that I can do for £100.

PM inbound :)

I used Polywatch on my Rift S lens that I managed to scratch, and after 2 applications I'd say 90% of the scratch is gone, and there's no blurring or fogging that I can tell on the lens. Taking that as a success and leaving the rest of the scratch there as a reminder not to do dumb s**t! The scratch isn't noticeable in game now anyway which is excellent.

Roll on the end of lockdown so I can get a new prescription for my glasses, and just get prescription lens adapters to completely protect the lenses (and of course, drag the headset all the way into my face)

After trying the majority of manufacturers over the years (haven't tried Ducky yet - though they are on my list!) - I'm currently using a Corsair K63 keyboard, which is excellent if you don't need the keypad. And a Corsair M65 Pro RGB mouse.

I also like that the iCUE software also supports the Corsair H115i AIO cooler as well - I prefer trying to get as many devices under one manufacturer driver as possible.

Got to admit, I’m very tempted. They do seem to be about the best reviewed option out there, same problem with any chair though is that it’s such a personal preference thing.

Wish I could stretch to a Herman Miller Aeron....
One of the best purchases I've made for the PC in recent times was the better chair. Made such a difference - more so with the COVID-19 stuff and working from home. Very comfy and adjustable in many ways. I'm sure they do a friends referral scheme on their chairs - you'll have to let me know if you go for one ;)

Also, the chair comes comes with 3-years warranty as standard. But if you take a picture of your chair in situ on social media, link Secret Labs into the post - they verify it and extend your warranty out to 5 years.

Had a slight tear and the bottom of my seat, in a unusual spot. Spoke to them and for the postage cost, they sent me a complete replacement seat section - no issues at all. I'd definitely recommend them.

Hit me up with a referral jobbie... need another office chair! [emoji106][emoji41]

Yeah I think you get £20 off and then Darren will get some cleaning stuff. It might have to be 2 referrals though? Can't remember

But agreed with Darren, it's one of the best purchases I've made in a long time!

Got a strange issue at the moment...

Internet on the PC/network is around 55mbps normally. Whenever I plug in the rift S the speed on the PC drops very low to around 5mbps. If I speed test on another device it is fine.

I've checked the netowrk and the rift is not downloading anything. Not sure if it has something to do with the USB, however tried various ports. As soon as the rift is disconnected the speed test on the PC shoots back up to 55.

Becoming annoying as when in apps that are downloading worlds or social my connection is terrible.

Any ideas?

Is the Rift itself interfering with the wireless and inducing slowness?
