Wiring a spare wheel sub. Megane 250

I don’t have a clue. Not a single clue.

So what is needed to get a Pioneer spare wheel sub to connect in my Megane 250?
Photos firstly show the connections on the sub followed by cables a previous owner ran to the boot to run a sub box before.
Any help appreciated.

Guessing, but...


The two-wire blue wire looks like the audio signal cable.

The red see-through wire looks like power (but then so does the brown see-through cable with the box marked 'power' on the end...)

The thin blue wire wrapped up with the red-see through wire looks like the remote on-off wire (i.e. turns the sub off when the head unit turns off).


Hard to know from the pictures, though.

You need to post a picture with everything laid out on the floor, so we can see where each wire is going from and coming to.

A picture of the sub connections would also be useful.


Ultimately you need power, on/off 'switch' (cable) and audio signal cables - not sure what else there would be.

It looks like, correct me if I’m wrong, my ground wire is black and connects to the thin blue of the sub.
The RCA’s together obviously and the yellow goes to power.

The power cables already in my car is red and a blue. Why 2?
They go in to the connector block but I just remove and wire directly as that’s for a specific connector.

In the car I have a brown wire that looks redundant and 2 thin blue wires on the sub I’m guessing are redundant.

I think you'll have to trace those wires back to where they come from - otherwise we are simply guessing!

The thin blue wire is the remote wire. Red is constant 12v and the blue a switched 12 so that the sub only comes on when your head unit is on

Thin blue from the car next to to red or thin blue on sub?
There’s a large black lead from the sub with remote control.

Brown wire will be an earth and bolted to the body somewhere in the boot more than likely.

Standard head unit.
The brown wire is connected to the plug and loose at the end and I guess was connected to the original sub. Could I simply use the plug that’s there to remove the brown one in the car and attach the brown from the sub instead of fussing about crimping?
