Alternator died, windows down

Hi all. My alternator just died (quite spectacularly... heaps of smoke coming from under the bonnet) but, my windows are down. The car has literally no power at all.

I need to get my windows up asap. I won’t be able to replace the alternator for a little while and I have nowhere to store it.

My question is can I just force the window up using my palms on either side of the glass?

Or, can I use my misses car to hook up to my battery for a few seconds while I do up the window and lock the car?

Basically, is there any way I can get some power to the car at the moment so I can at least get it in a position where I can store it until i can get around to replacing the alternator?

Managed to get the window up. Didn't bother trying to start it just connected the batteries and did the window.

The cables were sparking like mad and they got really really hot. I think there's an issue in the circuit somewhere.
