Hard brake pedal

  Renault Clio 172
I’m planning on replacing discs and pads all round and the rear brake pipes,I’ve managed to get the o/s/r but no look with the n/s.however I’ve noticed when I press the pedal all feels ok and the brakes work fine, but if I go to press the pedal again it feels very hard and there’s little effort which can be concerning as I found out at Croft lol,any ideas ? Cheers

Have a look at the hard plastic vacuum line from the inlet manifold to the brake booster.

They can melt and collapse, giving you the symptoms you've described.

To answer your other point, one of the rear brake line pipes is no longer available from Renault.

I went for an aftermarket braided line instead, from Pro Line braided lines.

I’ve checked the pipe,it’s been wrapped in foil and insulation tape as it’s looks to have melted, also not available from Renault.

BTT should be able to help with the vacuum line.

If wanting to change/upgrade the brakes for track, send me a PM as I can supply various discs, pads, fluid, braided lines (kits and custom both Goodridge and Hel) , OE Renault brake lines etc etc (y)
