Where to buy a 200?

jenic

Been a while since I last bought a clio, last one was in 2013 from Daniel.

Where is the best place to look these days? Any FB groups that they all tend to be sold on?

Is it worth joining the 200 forum or is nothing ever sold on there?

Obviously I'm looking at AT/eBay, it's slim pickings though.

Slightly more than I was looking to pay, but will try and find it for a look, unless you have a link?

There is one in Maldon I quite like but it has Meg wheels on which look ridiculous.

Also seen this one in Lincoln, but I'm suspicious of it, quite high owners and this guy hasn't had it long.

Was struggling to find the link first time [emoji28]

Prices seem to have gone up loads recently! I’m sure they used to be 4/5k a few months back

I've requested membership to the 3 197/200 groups I found.

Prices are a bit up, but so is everything, I'll be selling my Civic for a premium too atm so I'm not too worried about the higher prices.

There's a 1 owner alien green on autotrader.

Pearl white seems to be commanding a premuin now too. There's only 46 of them though so maybe worthwhile?

I really like that, good spec, belts are almost due though. Also, Portsmouth it a trek!

I just think 197/200s are so overrated. They look the nuts but that’s about it. I remember buying my cup and half way back from Scotland wanting to go back and get my 172 back.

I wish I had as my 172 would probably be worth 1 million dollars now.

With regards to buying tips;

Buy blind, Facebook market place or eBay, get it couriered and embrace the excitement and trepidation when you see the truck arrive.

It makes you feel alive.

I've never had a Mk3 though, and I've had 6 Mk2s, so want to give one a go.

I wish I'd kept all mine, the Trophy to sell and my RB to keep.

I understand why you feel like that, I sold my 200 after only a year. But I can’t put my finger on why.
The mk3 is the better road car and it’s an even better track car, but I think they just lack the fizz you get with the mk2’s.

Are you wanting one to drive or one as an investment?
A mate of mine is selling his Red 200 pretty soon. It's just had the belts done, and it's very tidy bodywork/paint wise.

I previously bought the car from a work colleague in Feb 2020 who emigrated. I then flipped it and sold to my mate.
I've done quite a bit of work on it, so know it pretty well.

I want to drive it! Would be interested in details if he does sell.

I am looking for a standard 200, ideally with cup pack, but not a cup as I want cruise control. It would be nice to have nav/BT/recaros etc but nothing is a deal breaker.

Ok it won’t let me mail you. But pics here.
It’s only mods are lowering springs, exhaust and manifold.

It’s also a quick one…. Maybe mapped but there’s nothing in the history for it.

  200
I P/X my 200 in December after 6 years ownership. Thought they would ship it off to Copart or some back alley garage but no, looks like they've kept it and reselling for a premium!

Does AG command a premium? I think an AG200 is a sound purchase.

Is a clean example in fairness so probably quite sought after if you want a clean one!

AG, SG, LY, and PW will always command more money.
If you were buying for an investment, a proper Cup with Recaros is probably a very good investment for the future (not that a cup pack wouldn’t be).

RB always seem to pull strong money too. Even though it’s one of the ‘normal’ colours.

You’ll be kicking yourself within a week if you don’t buy one with Recaros. The standard seats are proper pony and look shite. Second hand sets of Recaros with bad bolster wear are currently going for over £1500!

Oh and the Akrapovic exhaust is awesome compared to standard.

I loved my old Racing blue 200. If it hadn’t got written off I’m pretty certain I’d still have it now.

I really like my 200 but they are pretty different in the power delivery to a 172/182 aren’t they.

Handling feels better to me and I prefer the looks, I daily the 200 but I drive my 172 once a week and it feels so grunty compared to the 200.

My 200 made 201bhp (custom map and few mods) so it’s not exactly a ‘bad’ one. My 172 made 185 (mods and remap)

I can’t believe how different the two cars (with such a similar engine) feel in power delivery. The 200 to me feels like the throttle pedal needs twice the input to react. My 172 feels like a cable throttle but the 200 feels like a pigeon delivers the message to accelerate (this seemed worse after the remap to me)

And the sound! My 172 is all gruff and intake, the 200 sounds like a riced up Honda or a trombone.

My man! I have a 200 and 182. It’s perfect. I drive my 200 far more than the 182, both make me smile, but there is something that the 182’s have that 200s just don’t.

I keep seeing ridiculous priced 200s on low mileage for sale. Surely they have not reached "investment" status for unmolested unmodified cars yet? They are not limited edition cars with a limited run like a Trophy.

Agree on the recaros. RB, LY, AG and I still love white on speedlines.

There's just not many decent ones around! Not near me anyway. The nearest 200 to me on autotrader is 170 miles away

I do like a red 200. Suits it very well with the black front grill section

Is it normal for 200 front bumpers to be faded? I see a lot on autotrader that look like the bumper and wing colour don't match

It's because the bodyshop who carried out the bumper respray for stone chips done a s**t Job. Nothing else.

Red is always nice. Love an r27 in red.

I do like a red 200, I've been messaging the guy selling the one above but I think he might be getting cold feet about selling.

I keep going back to the green one in Portsmouth too. Might give them a ring tomorrow.

  Clio RS 200
If I was going to buy another 200 I would gladly pay an extra £1,000 for liquid yellow or alien green. I paid £5,500 for a 70,000 mile glacier white 200 Cup with Recaros in April 2020.

I’ve said it a million times. Mk2 feels like an engine swap where they’ve shoehorned a big engine into a small car. It makes it fun and exciting. Mk3 feels like the chassis is more than capable of the power and it makes it a bit boring despite the fact you’re probably going quicker.

  Clio RS 200
I always thought that a 182 had the better power per kg ratio than a 200, but a 200 had a better suspension/chassis design?

Had a lot of work done it to it though mate. Save you £££ over next few years.
I'm a bit suspect of it, it's been for sale since September, which at the price point it's at makes me wonder why. The seller hadn't had it very long either.
