Anyone local to Essex got one that either wouldn’t mind lending to me or is able to whip the plugs out and have a nosey down the cylinders for me?

🙏🏼

The 200 isn’t poorly is it?
Not poorly poorly but tired. Using oil so I suspect possibly rings are a bit sh!tty.

220k and time for some TLC. Am weighing up the options of a strip and rebuild (but struggling to find someone i want to do it) or fling a low mileage second hand engine in 🤷🏼‍♀️

I want to get the map removed so that’ll be a trip up to RSTuning at some point.

Maybe give AWmotorworks a call?

Yes they are who you’re thinking of, and they have a good reputation. But, and it’s a reasonably sized but, they used to be together. And now they’re not.
Delicately put… 🤣

There’s no ill feelings from my end…

@NorthloopCup it did get to burning through 1ltr in just over 1k. Using genuine elf/castrol.
I started using Lucas oil stabiliser which extended it to 1ltr every 5k but over the last couple years it got less and less again.

Changed the PCV and lambda and it’s back up to 1ltr every 3k.

Oil has always stunk of petrol hence changing it every 5k to reduce the effects of oil dilution issues.

That’s the best I could do! I have the tact of a sledge hammer and a piece of glass I’m afraid 😂

What grade is the oil you’re filling it with? You could always try going up a weight. So let’s assume you’re running a 5w40, you could up it to a 10w40, or even a 10w60. It would slow it down on the burning side.

But with you saying it always stinks of petrol, has it always done that? Or only after the map?

The oil stabiliser thickens it up a fair bit.

It’s always done it (it was mapped before I bought it). It’s been mapped for over 200k now.

200k is a decent run if it's the original turbo and has been mapped
It’s had:
Tyres (x7 front x5 rear sets)
Brakes (x4 front x2 rear sets)
Wishbone bushes x2 sets
Wheel bearings
ARB bushes x2 sets
Waterpump
Set of springs (because 1 snapped at 113k)
Top mounts x2 sets
Front shocks
TCM
Gearbox oil x3
Approximately 30 engine oil changes
Spark plugs x4 sets
Engine internals and turbo completely untouched.

Really you'll want a leak down test , unless there is a massive gouge in the cylinder wall I doubt you will see much.
That’s more involved, whipping the plugs out doesn’t render the car immobile for long.
