Recommendation for photo edit software

I’ve just bought a nice-ish camera and not sure what software to use to edit the pictures. I only want to be doing basic editing of things like light levels and colours and not like full on photoshopping. Any suggestions? I’m sure I’ve used Light Room in the past? I’ve got a MacBook Air as my computer if that helps.

Camera is a second hand Sony A6000, had only taken less than 300 pictures so is pretty much new. Got the idea to get a nice camera to go away on my honeymoon (which I still need to book!) so we can take some nice photos. Seeing as it’s a one time thing try to make the most of it! It came with the standard lens, got a second hand zoom lens and will see how we get on with those two before getting anything else for it.

Adobe lightroom.
Get a basic plan, think it works out £10 per month or thereabouts. I did get a year subscription on Black Friday/Cyber Monday for £49 so there are deals to be had.

I take it paying is the only option? It’s not problem if it is.
There probably a way around not paying for it.

You can get a 7 day trial so have a quick look at it before committing to it. It's not changed massively over the last few years and is probably the easiest software to use.

I’ll take some more photos and then get an afternoon/evening off parenting to do a trial.
