I’m waiting to get out of Sky, currently £110 a month.

Just need the fibre routing to our estate, already in the new estates 🤬🤬

Just be aware with Sky Stream; I posted about Sky in the TIDL thread recently as they've hiked my prices mid contract. Streaming TV is not governed by the usual Communications Act 2003, so in my case I cannot invoke my right to cancel as the typical rules and consumer rights do not apply in this case. So I'm stuck with the 25% increase for another 13 months and there's F all I can do about it other than downgrade my products to reduce the bill

@Nickw88

So if my discounts start dropping off like they have since May do I have a case to cancel or suck it up till September?
Well that's partly what happened to me, along with general prices increases on top. So was a double whack for me.

My understanding is Sky TV customers (with a wired box) can cancel regardless of how far they are into their contract following price increases (providing the correct process is followed), whereas Sky Stream customers have no rights at all. Depends which you have, but at least September is only a few months away, worst case.

EDIT: I don't think you have any case with discount periods ending, I think it only applies to the rise of their standard prices. I had an email notifying me of them, maybe a month or so ago now.

How wierd is that 9 months ago I contacted ‘open reach’ as we have mega fast fibre in certain parts of our village, put in request, told 2026.

Just gone to collect bins & 3 guys in high vis have the lids off the pavement boxes, quick chat & they are getting ready to pull the cables through for open reach.

He reckons 2 months away, perfect as my Sky package ends Sept

Excellent.

Fibre and bin off traditional services.

They will soon get the message that overcharging customers is poor business practices.

Plenty of other alternatives out there.

Not wholly relevant, but I moved from Sky BB in January to BRSK as the best Sky they could offer in my area was averaging 36 mbs due to the cul-de-sac not having fibre. It was just about OK initially, but after upgrading my TV and Xbox it became impossible with 4k streaming/gaming at peak times, especially on the weekends when my daughters stays.

Anyway, I've since found out by chance that Sky have had fibre in my street since the day the house was built 10 years ago but some stupid rule meant that a % of connections had to be reserved for other BB providers! Not sure whether there's any truth in that but made me wonder. Anyway, I now have 500 mbs for £5 a month less than Sky were charging me and it's been faultless, so Sky can get in the sea

Hopefully my iptv works well otherwise I’ll be after something else 🤔
