Are you at 4K or something? Otherwise I can't imagine the £ to performance gain is worth it. Even at 4K I'd probably want more than 16GB of VRAM

Yes. Very yes. 3080 will probably be double the performance (I wouldn’t bother with 20 series), and SLI support these days is pretty poor and will get worse going forward.

However if your CPU is as old as the 980tis it may be your next bottleneck.

6700k is probably a smidgen younger.

it quite comfortably hits 60-70fps on a 21:9 on max settings.
i'm just finding it hard to justify the upgrade just for iracing

If it’s the same as what my work do then you’ll get a voucher to use so whatever you get can be more than £1000.

after nearly 10 years of a stable solid overclock it finally ate the dust with frame rates dropping as low as 15 at 1080p before completely giving up on me
 
Well my new pc is getting built today, unfortunately I’m not there to see how it’s built and to lend a hand. Hopefully it all goes goes well. Think I ordered my first part very earlier in the year and last part few weeks ago.

You not fancy building it yourself? I find as much enjoyment in building the thing as I do playing on it. The small form factor builds in particular are really enjoyable.

Nah there’s nowhere in the house ideally to build it, I’m with the parents still so it’s a bit chaotic. If I had my own place I’d certainly give it a go. got my old pc boxed up not sure what I want to do with the bits, smash it all up or take bits from it and keep in the drawer. New pc is sweet, getting use to windows 11. Not signed into Microsoft but need to to install the newer version of office 21 if i remember corretly

Sorry for the vagueness in my post but I really fancy a gaming pc, mainly to play Automation/Beamng along with ACC and maybe a bit of BF6 but have no real idea what I’m looking for it seems a complete minefield. Any recommendations for a reputable place to build me such a machine? I’ve thought about building myself but no doubt I’d mess it up.

I’d like to keep it all under £1.5/£2k if possible but with the ability to upgrade in future. The less the better to be honest starting out.

It's not a bad spec, mate. It gets silly expensive as the spec goes higher, more so now with hardware pricing! I would suggest a 2TB SSD though if the budget allows.

All seems fine, but be aware that going with 5th gen Ryzen means you're on a dead end AM4 platform, so if you want to upgrade your CPU properly in a few years, it'll be new motherboard and RAM as well. I'd also consider a different PSU if you have the option, 80+ bronze is a bit crap these days.
Just something to think about, I'd consider going lower end Ryzen 7th gen for an easier upgrade later.

This is useful as I would like the system to last 5+ years ideally, so anything with a Ryzen 7 should be a bit more futureproof?

7th gen yeah, Ryzen X 7XXX, an AM5 system basically, just makes upgrades later easier, just update the BIOS, pop the cooler off, clean the thermal paste, old CPU out, new in, 2028 CPU performance in theory with the same motherboard and RAM.

Why a 5080? Aren’t those a good chunk more than the 5070ti (I was also looking at the 9070xt but think I’d be better off with the Ti) at the moment I’m only looking at 1440p gaming, I just want something relatively decent to start off with but with the options to upgrade in the future. The last one I linked earlier in the week was on older hardware afaik.b

I got mine from palicomp, if you buy from them don't buy any of the extras like OS or warranty/fast build etc. They will offer them at big discounts afterwards if you do want them.

Apart from that, a decent company it seems, happy with mine.
 
Sorry guys. Last one I would appreciate you casting your eyes over. This seems like a decent deal at under £1500 using with a Ryzen 7 and using 9070XT instead of the 5070ti which by all accounts seems to perform better except in maybe ray tracing. What you think?

Probably better off with the 9070XT. Same performance, lower price.

That's pretty decent tbf. Great spec for 1440P, will also do 4K. Scope to upgrade at a later date.
