Renault Clio 1.2 - Cassette update list - need aux

I’m rocking a Renault Clio campus 2007 1.2. I only do a couple of thousand miles a year. A number of years ago the aerial was vandalised and a couple of mechanics told me it’s a standard labour job 1/2 to 1 day to get that fixed removing interior roof lining etc. So I’ve been using a tape adaptor but it’s crap and navigation on mobile maps is muffled.

I’d like to modernise the cassette radio initially thinking I could add AUx as it’s an update list. Unfortunately there is no AUX option in the expert option list so just getting the cable won’t work. My second idea was to get a cd player update list head unit drop in. However my screen only displays clock so I don’t think that will work either without a screen upgrade. I’d like to retain steering controls? I looked online and struggled to even find my model.

Is best option get a modern Headunit with wiring harness to map to controls ? I see there were connect2 kits for aux but these were discontinued- a few are about. Still I think these are designed for something that wants a cd changer - I don’t think my casette oem will accept!

Do you have the top screen on top of the dashboard with the clock?

if so you will need an update list head unit with no screen, that will have the AUX option in the menu.

If you have the screen above then the wiring is all the same so will work as normal.

You then just plug the "ebay" aux cable into the back of the unit and job done!

Cheers. Pretty sure all mine has is a 24 clock 😂 and that’s it!

Ignore the mount/ I tried hacking in a CarPlay screen - all I’m losing is the clock. Hence I’d like an aux because the sound is dreadful through casette adapter. I’ve not tried FM yet.

Yeah that screen is fine they are all the same, just yours isnt displaying everything. Get yourself an update list CD player and ebay aux cable or Renault TunePoint (read from a usb stick etc) and you are good to go

Rooflining doesnt need to be removed to replace the aerial btw, its an hr job as cable has a join on drivers side rear, and simply pull rooflining down at the back.

Just a partial update. I got the aux cable and remove pins for around £5. Had the cassette radio out. It’s a 8200467803 and this isn’t setup for cdc input etc.

I’ve ordered an update list cd player but only got cheap. I did initially order a 8200633639 cd player with display but cancelled as there’s quite a few posts and threads around of aux menu not being available on that model. It does seem a bit luck though with auxiliary menu not always there?

Is the tunepoint part 7711419487 iPod din dock, usb and aux? Says it’s from 2009 models or is this might be related to the auxiliary not always being available,

Thats the boy, it was available on the mk3 clios, but works on the update list in a mk2.

yeah as far as i know no expert menu on the model with the screen on the face, you want the unit without a screen that uses your big screen on top of the dash

Interesting device as it can connect up with control to the steering controls. But limited by the Cd1-6 as guess it’s tapping into cd player lines. And no track info ! There’s probably some raspberry pi type hack or someone has done some reverse engineering of protocols. Most likely will be in French!

I think will try the AUX cable first. CarPlay screen controls Spotify iPhone 11 outputting over usb connector to DAC into the aux. Apple Shortcut and automation redirects audio to usb when Carplay starts. Problem there is a bundle of wires….should sound better than tape adapter…..Although I see the Sony tape car adapters are getting pricey now….

Im sure it does upto 99 folders (CD's) and it definately does upto 99 tracks per folder as im sure mine has a 16gb flash drive thats almost full!

Did you ever use with iPod ? The Reason I ask there’s some notes that it may be possible to use with the apple iPod to lightning dock adapter to control iPhone over the stalk controls.

I’ve looked at my radio again and I plugged the Renault box into blue connector and NO cd came up. I just need test a usb etc. The aux in is the green connector but no slot at present on mine. No matter just a different way to get aux in. I am assuming green is analogue in and the blue is digital so contains an analogue to digital converter in Renault box for aux.

I think I need to drill the glove box….
