Sump bolts

Has anyone replaced their sump bolts with regular cap heads to get rid of the nasty inverted torx bits?

I want to drop my sump and one of the hardest to get to is already rounded with a couple of others looking worse for wear.

I'd just replace them with standard cap heads if possible, they look like m6x15mm??

Insert joke about the French. I will measure them next time I'm at the vehicle unless someone else on here knows the exact spec.

M7x1 iirc, ive used regular flange headed bolts on mine.

Give the head a clout on the originals with a 3/8 extension or similar drift before undoing, usually come out ok doing that.

I’ve swapped all mine for titanium flange head bolts. I hate those shite etorx things.

I refused to pay £2.10 a bolt or whatever they are for the originals so applied some serious man maths.

The originals are M7 x1 and there are 21 of them I believe. Total length is 25mm so I’ve ordered the same again but looking at the bolts they have a small bit on the end that isn’t threaded so I think I probably should have gone 20mm. I’ll sharp find out when I put the sump on.

£120 from Renault for a full set 😂

I gave it a tap but it still just popped off, I noticed though once you have the flywheel off you get a bit better access so will try again at some point. Failing that I will have to get creative, might need a new sump...

Lol this! They ask stupid money for an annoying fastener! Screw that! I'm going to order some, probably stainless over titanium and I'll stick to 20mm, typically the end bit is a locator to make assembly on the line a bit easier.

did you ever find out?! I havent ordered any yet so happy to take your learning onboard.

classic, well do we at least know the treaded section length for the standard bolt?

Based on this picture I would say 20mm, (1x thread pitch and 20 threads... slow day at work). The lead in feature will just be to help alignment for assembly.
