Max Power era bodykits/styling pieces?

Ey up!

I'm looking to get a bit of a Max Power look going on my Clio and I thought I'd put some feelers out for body kits, spoilers, etc etc...

Wondering if anyone's got anything for sale (or any pointers), either Ph1 or Ph2? Anything sat in a shed gathering dust or otherwise.

Found these on ClioSport buried in a thread from 2006 and thought they were sick. Shooting for this kind of look on mine.

... and yes I know this style died out a long time ago, please don't crucify me for wanting to go that way! :)

Cheers!

Good luck with that, you might be better off trying some of the max power groups on Facebook.

Cheers dude! I managed to get in touch with Melik for a lovely set of side skirts. Just hard pressed finding a nice front end and a rear I can adapt to the 182's twin exhaust.

The Max Power groups have been a bit hit or miss thus far, as they seem to be inhabited en-masse by people who plastidip Paw Patrol on their Focus STs. 😬

Nothing wrong with a Max Power Clio, as long as it doesn't look like a robot sex toy.

Agreed wholeheartedly! I'm shooting for more of a functional, late '90s Euro look rather than looking like a fiberglass Decepticon with clashing lines.

Seen some absolutely diabolical builds, but equally seen some incredibly well-executed sports compact motors.

Haha yep them melts seem to get everywhere.

Yea that sorta stuff is going to be difficult to come by, generally the cars didn't last all that long after getting the Max Power treatment.

Have you considered looking abroad? IIRC body styling went on in France for quite some time after the phase passed in the UK.

Wholly agreed there. Unfortunately many cases of people getting carried away with body filler and the Clios dying/rotting out afterwards.

France is a great shout and I've got some French clients I could more than likely poke for pointers. Cheers for the direction!

I came here to quote the same!
WOAH that's insane.

A bit (a lot) more extreme than what I'm after, but the Maziora/flip paint, projectors and centre exit are sick!

Definitely won't be taking it that far as I was moreso aiming for a sports compact look rather than full fat Max Power, but I rate that!!!

Poor lusty got hounded out of here 😂

His car actually looked like it was really well done too, some of his posts were questionable 😂
I had a look through a couple of the things he said and he didn't seem overly inclined on making friends for sure!

Hopefully in spite of my slightly marmite styling preferences, I'll do a better job on the kindness front :)

Reckon he was actually a Honda BTCC tech, he was making it up, or is that a bit of Cliosport lore that'll go forever unanswered?

That's all good dude! I'm aware the style isn't to everyone's liking, but if I manage to make it work cohesively and make a few people smile between the bodywork and the Playstation in the glovebox hooked up to a flip-out LCD, I'm a happy man.

The goal's to keep things on the cleaner and less.... eccentric side of Max Power history though. :)

Don't take piss taking too seriously on here mate, we constantly destroy each other over the most minor things, if you didn't know us you'd think we hated each other with the kind of insults we throw around.

It's a euro/Max power build, people hated them when they were new, I didn't really like them either, but I do smile when I see a survivor on the road.

I'm still interested to see the final car, at least it's different from the usual oem+ look or stripped out track weapon.

Ahhh gotchu! I'm new to the world of forums outright and inflection can be a difficult one to read over text. A dose of the 'tism probably doesn't help my case. Thanks for that, and note taken! :)

There's a definite "too far" line for me (even anything Fast and Furious is a bit much), I'm aiming for a late '90s USDM/Sports Compact feel rather than the whole 9 yards of a bodykit that's tearing into the ground and 18" rims on rubber bands. Absolutely adore anyone with the balls to commit to a Maxer build though and actually helped with the PR of the first Max Power Reunion show many moons ago.

Also it's a weird mix, I've just had a friend go "I have some Pure Motorsport Bilstein coilovers, do you want them" to which I have naturally gone "Lord have mercy on my wallet but also YES", so I'm getting a bit of function in with my form. I'm intrigued as to where this leads me (other than my overdraft), hopefully a tasteful middleground

Nah. Should always have appreciation for people willing to put work into a car. I absolutely hate old Beetles and other air-cooled VWs with a passion. I think they're horrendous deathtraps, but I can still respect people who put hundreds of hours into restoring them. It would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

Good luck to you with it. Not my cup of tea but I appreciate a well put together build.

Getting all the random bits fitted nicely with even gaps and painted properly isn’t the easiest of tasks so can respect the effort that goes in.

Cheers man! It's definitely a bit of an oddball build in this day and age.

You'll fit in well here

Unlike your car when you fit that kit...🙈

I completely jest. Looking forward to seeing this as I'm not completely against it.
It was never my taste back then, but its nostalgic and brings back a lot of memories of the cruise scene 20+ years ago

Cheers dude! When I was waved down by a small flock of 197/200 owners within a day of buying my 182, I immediately realised that the 'tism is strong within the Renault community. Weirdly enough I met the owner of a car I'd actually intended on buying (JZX110 Mark II) shortly after and they were so unpleasant that I realised I'd made the right call on owner's communities alone.

Bournemouth's got it's own mini Southend strip in the form of Sandbanks funnily enough! On a Friday/Saturday evening this time of year it feels a bit like the cruise scene given the amount of Cossies, XR3s, cherry-bombed Saxos and the likes (and a healthy spattering of Renaultsport in there too.) The only immersion breaker is the odd financed M BMW / Merc AMG / Tesla attempting a top speed run and nearly causing a mass casualty incident worthy of national headlines... which probably also wasn't far off back in the day lol
