Mk3 Stalk Control

  '94 BMW 318i
Okay, so there are a number of threads relating to getting the stalk control to work with aftermarket HU's. I've gone through them all and also checked with websites selling leads and adaptors but I am still confused :S . Is it actually possible to get the stalk control to work with an aftermarket HU in a Mk3 Clio?

Autoleads seem to think no in their compatibility table http://www.autoleads.co.uk/index.html.
Incartec seem to think yes when using their 29-800 lead http://www.incartec.co.uk/Resources/new29_800.pdf.

From what I understand, the 29-800 lead isn't exactly cheap though but to be fair if I wanna use my stalk then I'll have to cough up.

Is there a cheaper alternative to the Incartec lead?

Mucho Gracias.
Dave.

Yea I'm not too keen on taking my dash off. To be honest I'm not bothered too much about getting the display connected and working so I'm trying to find an adaptor that will just connect to the stalk only, so that I won't have to get the dash off.

think your only option is the incartec route which works out quite pricey. after much hassle with a faulty unit i've given up, it's not too much hardship to use the stereo controls to change the volume etc. i was previously only used to using the steering wheel controls but have got over it

Don't think I can really justify paying £80/£90 just to use the stalk so I'll probably do the same and just get used to reaching for the head unit instead.
