Coolant Temp. Sensor

  CLIO MK2 "98
I phone the local Renault dealer parts dept. and asked for a Coolant Temp. Sensor for my Clio 1.4 rt 1998 "S" reg.
The parts dept. expert then asked for my full reg. which I gave.
She (yes it was a lady !) then asked if it was a screw in type, to which I replied "you tell me because I dont know, and you are the experts! "
She then asked how I knew it was this part , and I said it was one of several likely options of which this one is the most likely.
She then asked if I had tested it and how I knew...

At this point my own coolant was at boiling point and I told her where to go.......

All I want is the correct part !! Can anyone suggest a good on line site to get one?

Can anyone tell me or help ?

thanks.

Can you suggest a good online site to get a Coolant temp sensor ?

thanks mate

cheers

Renault only part.

Woman sounds like she was trying to help you to ensure you didn't buy a part you didn't need after all there none returnable. The Renault system doesn't know what type of TDC sensor your car uses hence she has to ask.

Why not take the present one out and check it.

20 degrees reading should be 3060 to 4045 OHms
40 degrees reading should be 1315 to 1600 OHms
80 degrees reading should be 300 to 370 OHms

Thanks edde,
how do I check it exactly ? I have the Ohm meter , but the sensor only has one terminal . If I put one lead on the terminal on the sensor, where do I put the other?? I tried puting one lead on the terminal and the other on the other end of the sensor ( brass bit).

any ideas ??

thanks
