Im upgrading my Opteron 146 cpu to an Opteron 165 cpu and am wondering what is the best bios to use for dual core processors for the DFI Lan Party Ultra SLi D motherboard??

Also can anyone link me to that Windows xp patch that improves dual core cpu performance??

to a OS to get the most out of dual core it needs to support it ie. vista. Why dont you opt for a Athlon64 X2 as the cpu you want is designed for servers. Why do you want to upgrade the BIOS? just download the latest off the DFI site and the will be suffice.

Opty's aren't "designed" for servers. They are simply rebadged Athlon's that have undergone more stringent quality control tests to esnure a longer mean time between failure.

The main reason I like Opteron's is the cheap price (I paid 120 quid for my retail 165) the extra cache and overclockability - my chip stepping can apparently do 3ghz It also saves me changing ram and motherboard lol I'll look into the bios issue I may be ok tho
