Clio 182 Faults.

  Shhh
Now, ive nearly owned the car for 2 years. And ive had many a fault with the damn thing. Warranty is up soon, and i was looking to complain to renault about the amount of work that has been required to be carried out since ive owned it.

Here is a copy of the replacement parts, this does not include faults that were fixed without a warranty claim for parts.

Also, it needs another rear right shock absorber as this one is well knackered. Its been rubbing since i had it fitted, and needs replacing again.

Now, does anyone have any ideas for a letter of complaint to renault about this car. Im basically in the market for a free bonus years warranty to allow me to keep the car and be happy with it.

As you can see ive had alot done..

Regards,

Alias

You could try ask them why your car has had so many problem.
I've seen longer lists than that though its nothing huge IMO.

  Shhh
Well, the shocker has done 23,000miles. and renault uk say they wont replace it under warranty at that mileage on the car. Well i see that its only done 23k since fitted, and therefore is ok to do..

Touch wood, mines been fine. It's the pick of the hat with most cars. Some run with/without faults but I'd be upset if it needed work/parts on.. Even more so with a list that long.

When I had my 172 the fuel pump died on us within a couple of weeks of having it.. Here's an idea of how I kicked off with them, btw.. This is the letter I sent...

Dear Sir/Madam
Re: Complaint
I am writing in connection with a used car, which was purchased from you on the 12/09/02, registration number W*** ***T.
On the 0910/02 myself and my wife were travelling to a friend’s house when the car suddenly stalled, upon trying the ignition, the car would not start. As we did not have the contact number for the RAS breakdown company with us. We called Green Flag out for the recovery, as we are also Green Flag members,
We were told that the car was not fixable at the roadside, and was advised we could be towed to the either the nearest garage (at the period in time was Keighley, West Yorkshire) as it was 11:30pm at night and we were not happy that the vehicle would be properly secure, we had the car towed to our home address. Due to this we had to pay a towing fee of £70.00.

We then rang yourselves at Sunwin Renault (Bradford), on the morning of 07/10/02 to advise you that the vehicle had broken down during the weekend. As the vehicle needed towing to your garage to be assessed,
I requested a courtesy car as I work 15 miles away from home as the vehicle is used on a daily basis for travelling to and from work. As I had already lost a days work arranging work and towing etc. I was advised to call RAS breakdown & I would NOT be able to have a courtesy car at such short notice. How can I predict when my car will break down? Also if I have a vehicle that will not start which, to me is under 6 months old, I do not expect such an awkward service.

My car was subsequently towed by RAS to Sunwin Renault (Halifax), where there I was told there would be a 3 week wait for a courtesy car, I explained to the staff there that my work involved working in a hospital & require a vehicle to travel to work but was again told that there were no cars available. Much to my disgust I had to rent a car from Leeds so I could go about my day-to-day duties, incurring another £70.00 cost to my expense.
To add insult to injury when I was told the work had been completed on the vehicle at Sunwin Renault (Halifax). I was informed that due to poor wire contact in an electrical relay, there was no live feed to the fuel pump & was NOT covered by my warranty. So I have come to the conclusion that your warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.

I am disgusted by the after car sales service you have not provided, yet upon the sale of the car you saw yet another gullible customer to bump your profit margin up with.
I know it’s a used car to yourselves but, to myself it is a new car to which I did not expect to have to spend this amount of money on so soon after purchasing as in total it has Cost myself a total of £210.00, not including the time and earning I have lost due to having the time off work. I purchased this car from yourselves thinking that your reputation would provide me with the best service,
I hope past & future customers do not have to be subject to pitiful excuses like myself.
If I do not receive a satisfactory reply by yourselves to regard of this matter then I will be seek legal advice, as I am not happy with the outcome of the problems and financial debt I have had to incur due to this inconvenience.

I hope you improve your services for future customers as this customer is not impressed at the commitment from you as a dealer.

Regards,

Oh, this is what we got back...

We managed to get all our costs we had paid for refunded as we'd kicked off with them, plus we managed to get the address for the local area manager too so we placed a nice letter his way too which, will have swung it our way too.

All in a days work ;) Try something along them lines matey, quote EVERY time something went wrong with it.

That's a long list, touch wood mines been ok, apart from the snapped battery bracket, but that doesn't cause any problems at the moment.

  Shhh
Well, not to mention the time when the bonnet catch stuck, and the aa dented the bonnet, the time when the battery bracket disappeared and still has. The time when the rear washer pipe was trapped under the rear spoiler, but now it has a chip in it where they took it off..

Then we have the time when the plastic thing under the seat was found cracked (post maintanance)..

So far ive had.

Climate control fan changed
Cruise control switch changed
Alternator changed
Alternator - battery cable replaced
Plastic thing under seat changed
Rear shock absorber changed (soon to be x2)
Front shock absorber modified as was catching something
Rattly sensor up by clock
Steering wheel change
Speedo change (well knackered mileage up as under reads by 12,300 now)
New centre section & clamps
Squashed rear washer pipe (well it did not work)
LH door panel replaced as it was scored

and more that i cant remember..

  BMW 535D
my warranty's up in april n i need to pop to the local dealer soon as my traction control keeps switching itself off, cruise control only works when it feels like it (not that i use it) and my headlamp washers piss water out like there's no tomorrow even when the car's been parked up n switched off for ages!!

bloody renaults!

On the upside mine goes back in on monday for another fault. I was getting worried a few months and no faults. The same fault as before the steering clunking and rains in under the rear seat. Im glad i paid £12500 for a new car.

Mine is coming up for 63k and the only problems I have had are the cat and the ESP light coming on after about 30 mins on the motorway. For some reason, Renault changed the oxygen sensor to cure this????, then when I took it back they actually had a new technician who was polite, explained what he was going to do, changed a switch on the brake pedal and cured the problem.
Time to sell I think before I get any out of warranty issues. The car has been great, but not that practical for a 100 mile daily commute

  Titanium 182
Are the 182's problem riddled then?

I should say so....

Luckily so far I've only had the following go wrong:
5 engine mounts
2 gearbox mounts
7 exhausts
drivers door mirror
front suspension
steering wheel
rear wiper
front wipers
both headlamp washers

Starting to wonder if it was made by Microsoft...

Neil

  Shhh
and my exhaust still rattles post yesterdays little.. 'we've fixed it'..

i wonder if the guy will ever ring me back about this shocker like he said he would.

i was thinking of a megane convertable, but i think thats out of the window..

  Shhh
Drove it yesterday, the rattles and squeaks are really winding me up now.

Still no word from renault about the shocker and if i have to pay for it. Well if i have to pay ill be leaving it fitted.. well its been like that for 23,000 miles i think..but then again i was told about 10,000 miles ago it was fine even though it rubbed down to the metal..

Now, anyone to buy a rattly clio 182.?

  Mk1 1.2 & Mk1 172
With my Cup, I had 12 warranty repairs in one year. If I can find it, I will send you a copy of the letter I sent to RenaultUK and Renault France... am at work at moment, but will have a look when home.
