changing driveshaft

  R35 GTR
I think my cv joint has had it. Been offered a driveshaft for £50 for drivers side, is it easy to fit? Any special tools needed?

Drivers one is the easier one to fit since you do have to refill the gearbox oil. Depending on how you go about it you may need a balljoint splitter, the hub nut will be tight if you havn't got and airgun I would take it to a garage and get them to crack the nut then re-tighten it as this will make getting it off a lot easier. Ideally you want a torque wrench to re-tighten the hub nut at the end.

Where are you getting it from a mail order breakers?£50 sounds ok you'll pay more because it's for a more exclusive model i've found the average price from a breakers is around £25 and most of them turn out to be quite knackered. If you know it's newish and in good condition I'd happily pay it

Why do you think that? you sure a new gaitor and a repack wouldnt do?

Yes, check the guides, otherwise i have pic by pic here to help you

Any special tools needed?

Not really, 30mm socket for the axel nut + a long breaker bar (take to a garage to undo WTF! then what? who ever said^) BJ Splitters are s**t also, use a rubber mallet if its stuck or just press the track rod out with your hand..

cool. :D

I have already repacked the gaitor, the clip had broken off.

I think it is the cv joint as I get a really bad vibration through the steering wheel, it is especially bad at 85/90 mph.

GavFre I used a 6ft long pole on the end of a breaker bar to undo the hub nut and it never budged a bit infact it bent the pole so I took it to a garage they got it off with an airgun and tightened it up to get me home and what you know hey presto it came off no probs.
I'd also love to see you get a balljoint out with a rubber hammer infact i'd pay to see how you do that.
Dave theirs you'll see on the drivers driveshaft a rubber ring around the middle of it if this wears it can cause vibration.
