Lowering help needed for novice!

Basically i need help with lowering, can anyone explain what the following terms mean?

-*- coilovers?
-*- dampers?

do i need these to get low?

what are the benefits, and down sides?

would i stil be able to put alloys on was lookin at 15/16" deepdish?

coilovers are the whole unit eg spring & damper combined - superb handling ,can go very low (adjustable) ,but not cheap

dampers are the shockies

as above coilovers will get u low but springs do also as a cheaper alternative ,depends how low u want to go & how much mullah u want to spend .

as for alloys don't see why not ,just depends what offset they are .

if not, uprated shocks n dampers. ie spax someone like that

Don't get Spax stuff its junk rear damers are terrible.
